Working On "The Drug Test", set to release Dec 15th

Heavy Hittaz Mixtape Vol. 1

Last single topped the Charts at #1 on the DJ Goodnight show until retired as the longest run in the history of the show.

G-RU aka Fred Cook

Multitalented rapper and artist G-RU was born in the western region of Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh and started rapping when he was 12 years old. By the time he was 15, he began taking his music career very seriously. Since that time, he has performed and recorded extensively and is currently working on his first mix-tape release.

Citing musical influences such as Lil Wayne, Luda, and Eminem, G-RU also has a serious affection for some of the older rappers like PAC and Biggie. However, his biggest inspiration admittedly has always been EXP. “He totally inspires me and pushes me to the limit”, states G-RU, “His inspired efforts won’t let me settle for just the average product. His inspiration allows me to show my full potential”.

When asked if his rap comes from within or from what he observes around him, G-RU replied, “My music comes from things I’ve done in my lifetime and things I’ve seen. Essentially my music and rap is based upon life experiences.” Stating only one regret as a performer, G-RU has always said that he wishes he would have initiated his music and entertainment career sooner than he did.

Some of G-RU’s achievements to date include being the #1 artist on the Internet radio program “The DJ Goodnight Show” for 8 weeks straight and another time for 4 weeks solid. He has also performed direct support for Wiz Khalifa at Jeffries Landing. Fred further states that his all-time dream gig would be to co-headline with, or at least support TI. “When I perform live on stage it’s an adrenaline rush like none other”, says G-RU, “When the performance is over I want to feel so physically drained just as though I have worked 8 hours of hard labor. I want the audience to feel me and much as I’m feeling them”.

Fred cites one of the biggest challenges he faces as an artist is just getting himself out there in the small community where he resides. “Our area is basically undiscovered and without an actual radio station we constantly have to come up with new and innovative methods to promote ourselves”, says Fred, “we have talent down here and people need to see that”. When asked if he can retain artistic integrity as he continues to succeed in the commercial market, G-RU replied quickly without hesitation. “Absolutely, Its all about how you measure success. Independently, we may never top the charts or sound scan but our fans are our fans no matter what, they’re loyal. To me, that is truly success!”

G-RU is currently in the studio working on his first mix-tape as a solo artist. The upcoming release will be titled "The Drug Test". States Fred, “The Drug Test isn’t fully about drugs either, rap is a drug; meaning everybody is doing it WITH GOOD AND BAD EFFECTS and my album will be the test. Get it?”

The release will be available soon. You can keep informed for the announcement on this incredible rappers website where you can join his mailing list and receive a free download. G-RU has no immediate plans for a tour but one thing is for sure – This amazing talent IS COMING! Keep your eyes and ears open you don’t want to miss this trip.
