Biography

Grupo Alamo, the culmination of a concept established 14 years ago to provide Tejano enthusiasts a band with a unique and crowd pleasing flava, is proud to announce the continuation of the legacy with“Sin Parar.”Originally managed by Ernest Gonzales Sr. and Jr.
and part of Ro’ Records, Grupo Alamo has maintained its prominent status in the Music Industry and is ready to reach further with the help of Big J Management. Grupo Alamo feels
that their greatest responsibility is to reach the audience and community by presenting themselves in a professional manner in all aspects of their work.
“Sin Parar” promises to be a true fan rewarding album with Lead Vocalist Tom Esquivel,
who has been with the band for the last three years and never fails to shower enthusiasm and
excitement at all shows. Nominated for Drummer of the Year by TTMA, Edward Mendoza has
maintained the unique style and feel that has been Grupo Alamo for the last 10 years. Roger
Contreras, the bassist and a true veteran of the Tejano industry, also has written several
Trademark Tejano songs including “Entre Cantina Y Cantina,” “Poquito A Poca,” “Con El Tiempo,”
and “Una Eternidad.” John Segura, the keyboardist and newest member to the band, is a true
reflection of the image of Grupo Alamo with his education in music and humble personality.
Ernie Gonzales, the accordion player, originated the idea of forming a band 10 years ago with a
unique and crowd pleasing flava. Ernest Gonzales, the guitarist, brings his knowledge and
maturity to the group to help maintain its focus at all times.
Orriginating from San Antonio, Texas in 1993 Grupo Alamo has noticeably been doing
their homework. In 1995 they were nominated for “Best Band, Self Produced” at the Pura Vida
Awards. In November of 1998 “Illusiones,” Grupo Alamo’s first album, was released. Two songs,
“Camaron Peleao” and “Anzuelo De Amor” listed in major publications like Radio Y Musica and
Antenna Magazine. Grupo Alamo has had huge radio success charting the top 10 in Texas,
New Mexico, Chicago and California stations. “Sin Parar” is primed to build on this previous
success and set new standards.
Grupo Alamo has performed in Corpus Christi’s “Domingo Live” show, which is
broadcasted on major network television network ABC. The band members have been greatly
involved with the “Stay In School” program sponsored by the National Basketball Association as
well as performing at several schools in the surrounding areas. Grupo Alamo has also
participated in charitable events such as the Annual “Feast of Sharing” Holiday Dinners, the San
Antonio Zoo’s “Festival De Animales”, and several ongoing benefits and festivals.
Grupo Alamo has established itself as one of the top Tejano Bands in the Industry, due in
equal parts to the help and support of their fans, their love for music, and commitment they have

1998

Recording of ILusiones began at Melody Ranch Studios in the Spring of 1998 and wrapped in the fall. Engineered by Brad Green, mixed by Brad Green, and Ernie Gonzales, with the exception of Ernie's Jam which was recorded at War Room Studios, and mixed by a good friend whom we miss dearly David Alejandro (RIP) Arranged by Grupo Alamo, Danny Rodriguez, Jesse Martinez Jr, and Severo Contreras. This was the bands first attempt at recording a full album project. Grupo Alamo members included: Roger Garcia (Lead Vocals), Ernie Gonzales (Accordion), Ernest Gonzales Sr. (Guitar&2nd voice), Jose Lara (Keyboards & Backup vocals), Edward Mendoza (Drums & Percussion), Danny Rodriguez & Ray Martinez (Bass). Guest Musicians included Jesse Martinez Jr. on Keyboards, with a special thanks to Rick Acosta.

The Sophomore Album from Grupo Alamo began production at Reel Tracks Studios in the winter of 2000 and Recording sessions did not conclude until the winter of 2003. This album is a marvel, on how a band shows a Tremendous growth in musicianship, and maturity. Overcoming Tragedy, a change in personnel, and other challenges of will and heart, the Band's "Never Give Up Attitude" is truly expressed in this project: thus the title Sin Parar. Produced, Recorded, Mixed, and Mastered by: Ernie Gonzales, and Z Maltos. for Ro' Runnerz Productions. Arranged: by Ernie Gonzales, Danny Rodriguez, Jesse Martinez Jr, and Z Maltos.
