GRYFFYN - Based in Toronto, Canada, this duo explores acoustic possibilities crossing several genres in a subtle organic style. Influenced by a variety of music, elements of rock, blues, jazz, classical and funk can be found throughout the Gryffyn playlist. "We take acoustic out of its box, shake it up, throw in dynamic riffs and vocals, merging genres or vocal styles to create something inspiring, mood driven, fresh and widely accessible." Nneka's emotion filled vocals are displayed in songs about life, love, loss, freedom, adversity, good and evil and the ever changing technological world, among other things. Edward James' instrumental plays on the darker side of the sunny side of the street. Sometimes sweet. Sometimes crunchy.
Despite a crazy down pour of torrential rain they braved the elements and performed at Dundas Square for the Toronto Freedom Festival (TFF) kick off press conference (April 09). Gryffyn survived the day and played the main stage to over 20,000 festival goers at the annual Toronto Freedom Festival (TFF) at Queens Park (May 09) and for the second year in a row headlined the Eye Weekly Speaker Stage as the featured musical act.
Currently promoting their debut LP "GRYFFYN", the duo is actively seeking licensing, publishing deals and remix projects as well as performing locally at private events and clubs. This summer they will be honing tracks for their follow up album with plans to return to the studio soon with more tunes you can sing to, some rockin', some jazzy, some tear jerkers - all Gryffyn.

GRYFFYN, the self-titled debut album, is a unique acoustic project, capturing the essence of urban life in troubled times and touching on subjects to which everyone can relate.

The 9-track debut kicks off with their "In Your Eyes" EP, a catchy tune driven by a rockin' playful riff and overlaid by vocals on a journey between light and punchy. "Flash in the Pan," a short and sweet love song and "Racing in the Veins" a seductive tune both sultry and rough, have garnered interest for licensing projects. Also included on the album is "Magnetic", a fan favorite domestically and on the international scene, with the melodic blend of hypnotic instrumentation and airy vocals bringing this entrancing piece to life for listeners.
