"An independent artist with so much talent that he should already have a major record label deal" - Darlene Fowler

"Glen Shelton,"

When I met Glen Shelton, he had just finished his set opening for Colin Raye at the "America's Birthday Celebration" performance July 4th. I thought to myself, "This guy gets it." It always amazes me that there are so many people who come to Nashville, with talent out the "wazoo" who struggle for years and never get the recognition they deserve, and yet, by the same token, there are the few with nowhere near the level of talent, who get the big contracts with all the trappings that go with it.

Glen Shelton, who hails from Amherst, VA has got the goods and he works pretty hard at getting his goods out to the folks. His combined repertoire of positive country and gospel music is what the folks want and need to hear. Glen, a devout Christian, is in the same musical vain as Paul Overstreet and the level of Glen's music and his performance are top notch. He uses the musical gifts God has given him to minister and bring people to the Lord. Striving to provide clean, wholesome, family entertainment that everyone of any age can enjoy.

He really enjoys performing and he realizes most of all that it is God and only to the glory of God that is the reason for his success. I was really impressed at the raw, natural, understated talent he possessed. Glen performed the musical selections pre-recorded on the sound system and the level of music programmed was of such high quality and he handled it with such style, grace and professionalism that you almost forgot the backup band wasn't even there.

Glen is also one of the nicest guys I've ever met, he signed autographs and talked to the folks and was just a regular guy bar none. Glen has performed at fairs, festivals, events and churches all over Virginia and North Carolina. He has shared the stage with everyone from "Nashville Star" winner, Buddy Jewel, Tracy Bird, Le Ann Womack, Chely Wright, Lonestar, "The Duke's of Hazzard's" John Schneider, Ricky Van Shelton and Randy Travis. Glen has earned the admiration and respect of all these great musicians.

It's not often one finds an undiscovered treasure and Glen Shelton shines like gold.

"SHELTON LIKES TO MIX IT UP"

Prizery Performance Will Feature Country, Gospel, Southern Rock

The musical variety of concerts and events at the Prizery continues to grow with a visit by Glen Shelton and his band.

Shelton brings his unexpected mix of country, bluegrass, gospel, patriotic and southern rock selections to the Chastain Theater, a performance that he and his band tailor for each individual audience.

“Versatility is our biggest asset,” Shelton said. “The typical concert includes country, gospel, bluegrass and even oldies.

“I try to mix it up for diverse audiences,” the crooner said. “I want everybody there to leave saying that they liked something that we did that night.”

Shelton has performed in the area before at the fairgrounds in May, and is looking forward to his return this weekend.

A Colgate Country Showdown winner, Shelton has had a hit on the country music charts, has been in the music industry for almost twenty years and has worked with other artists including Randy Travis, Lonestar, Tracy Byrd, Leanne Womack, Ricky Van Shelton, Chely Write, and “Nashville Star” winner Buddy Jewel.

“There is a large catalog of songs that I sing and the band has to pull from,” Shelton says. The performances are clean and suited for all ages, something that Shelton and his band are proud of.

“My job is to entertain from 5 to 95,” he said about their concerts.

"LOCAL SINGER PROMISES "BEST TIMES""

He’s opened for country music stars such as Leanne Womack, Lonestar and Tracy Byrd and his self-penned debut single “Living Without Her” hit No. 31 on the Indie World Country chart.

If the more than 30 concert dates he has this summer and fall are any indication, Central Virginia’s Glen Shelton is a gospel and country singer on the rise.

Shelton’s faith plays a large role in his musical life. “I sing country music to entertain, I sing Gospel music to minister, and I sing in church services to worship”, explained Shelton.

Those unfamiliar with Shelton’s music will have the chance to hear him perform tomorrow, when he opens for Randy Travis at the American Red Cross Riverfest in downtown Lynchburg.

"GLEN SHELTON'S MINISTRY TO YOU"

"I am grateful for the opportunity to endorse Glen Shelton's ministry to you. Glen is our Youth Ministries Director at Elon Church and continues to have a positive and powerful impact for Christ in the lives of our youth and their families. In addition to Glen's youth ministry, we are blessed by his ministry in music. Not every congregation gets to experience the power of a professional voice in ministry on an ongoing basis. I can recommend Glen's music ministry in your midst with no reservations. His singing is powerful, not only because of his rich singing voice and amazing range, but because what he sings is heartfelt and springs from deeply held Christian convictions. When Glen sings, it's not entertainment; it's ministry." - Barry Tucker, Pastor, Elon Presbyterian Church, Elon, Virginia

"GLEN IS COMMITTED"

"I can say from the very start that Glen is committed to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and has a deep passion for the music that God has allowed him to share with others. Glen is a talented individual. God has not only blessed him with a tremendous voice, but also the unique gift of songwriting. Glen enabled each of us to remember why we were there and who we should be focusing on; indeed, it is not the singer but the giver of the song. He will inspire and lift you up and you will go away knowing that you have worshipped in the presence of God." "Glen has a wonderful voice, writes many of his own songs, and his greatest desire is to use his gifts to bring glory to our Lord. He has a humble spirit and is extremely easy to work with in a worship service." - Rev. Randy J. Bower, Pastor, Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Virginia
