Bio

It was early very clear that Gunnlaug Thorvaldsdottir borne in Reykjavik, Iceland had a special voice / talent. As an infant she was making such a strange demonic sounds that her parents worried she was possessed by evil spirit and when she was 3 years old her mother first heard her "talking" to birds. These sounds of her and vocal abilities she has then with the years evolved and developed into her own singing style & signature sounds. She has done various kind of performances around the world and appeared both on Radio and Television. She has worked as a soloist with composers in contemporary music / opera. F.e. was she a soloist in the multimedia orchestra piece Credo by Andrea Molino. In the years 2003-2005 Gunnlaug was in the music department of Fabrica (Benettons arts and communication research center) in Treviso, Italy. There among other projects she composed and produced her first solo C.D Survival Machines which was later developed into a solo performance premiered at Center Pompidou in Paris 2006. Gunnlaug has also composed soundtrack for films and advertises. She is currently based in Rome where she is training Bel canto singing and working on a piece with the legendary Japanese singer Michiko Hirayama. She's also working with the composer Maurizio Squillante in developing her part as Roxanne for his new opera Alexander as well as working on her next c.d. which involves among others musicians didgeridoo player William Barton.
