01 - Released July 2010

GMFG has a core group of three musicians (Hans Cedro, Scott McKean, and Chester Morganfield) who have played in bands for nearly five decades between them. The latter two have been playing in the same band for 15 years – and with shows in colours-flying biker bars, alleyway beatings, poverty and trouble, and various rip-offs behind them, they have done some hard living, which can be heard and felt in the lyrics and music on their debut EP, “GMFG 01”.

The world has changed a great deal since they first started playing, and GMFG has fully embraced the freedoms that technology has allowed them. This EP was recorded and given its first mix by McKean and Morganfield, who taught themselves to use recording software and turned their closet-sized rehearsal room into a recording studio with such high-tech implements as egg cartons, blankets, and found pieces of lumber.

On this record, you will find everything from a dirty punk ode to too-young girls, a 70’s Nashville style country lament for mistakes made, an indie-rock anthem of self identity, a rockabilly boogie about the wrong girl, a foot-stomper about jealousy, and a ballad about alcoholics in love.

With influences like CCR, the Cramps, early Beatles, the Clash, Ray Charles, and 1970’s era “Outlaw” country like Waylon Jennings all mixed together it is fair to say theirs is not a multi-hyphenated type of music. It’s only rock n roll. But they like it.

They hope you will too.
