"GunnPoint Releases New Album - Trusting"

"In the world of Christian Country, if you want to know the poster child would look like, it would have to be Randy Gunn. Sounding a bit like Jeff Fenholt ( of Broadway’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and TBN Television fame), Randy shows us his writing prowess along with his vocal skills. The album is very well produced (hats off to Randy Payne), and the choice of musicians is probably one of the best I’ve seen in a while. The selection of material is a wise one, and both Randy’s ( Gunn and Payne) have done a fine job of laying down a musical bed that creates a nice journey. Randy especially shines on ‘Hymn to Him’ written by one of my favorite people Dion Dimucci. Randy pulls it off especially well, and has every opportunity to drop the ball, but instead carries it all the way to the end. Another fine selection of the month, I’d add this to my collection any day of the week." PowerSource Album Reviews - August 2005 - PowerSource Magazine - August 2005

"GunnPoint Releases New Album - Steady Working"

"Steady Working is Christian Country to the core. The music arrangement, and sound of each song is definitely country. The songs lyrically are about praising, following and obeying the Lord. The songs "Straight and Narrow", "Front Seat, Back Seat" and "Just Like Jesus" are about living the right lifestyle and making the right choices. Randy & Heidi sing about the comfort that is found in Jesus on "Everybody Needs Your Touch, " "Calm", and "Let Him Be Love." The song "Steady Working" is about continually finding ways to fulfill God’s Will. Randy & Heidi have put together a great collection of songs. Most of the songs were written by two of Nashville’s biggest and most- respected songwriters, Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz. The GunnPoint Band is right on point with their country roots. Steady Working is a classic country album with songs that deal openly and honestly with faith and God." PowerSource Magazine Album Review - April 2006 - PowerSource Magazine - April 2006

"GunnPoint Releases New Album - Trusting"

Randy Gunn is an incredibly versatile guy. This man from Colorado, who looks like a movie star, is a former Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association national champion who also feels a calling for Jesus and for music, and is known as "The Pistol Packin' Preacher." He and wife Heidi, whose nickname is "Straight Arrow," lead the 8-piece GunnPoint Band, which performs at Cowboy Churches and major Cowboy events nationwide.

With the album Trusting, Randy presents nine songs of faith and inspiration, including three he wrote himself ("Trusting," "Oh My Lord," and "Let You Live"). Dion DiMucci wrote four of the other songs. Gunn has a big, powerful baritone, which he can use to either preach or soothe. It's interesting to contrast the uptempo "He's The One," for instance, with its Gospel-flavored, organ-based arrangement, and "Sweet Surrender," a ballad which features a guitar- and saxophone-centered orchestration and a restrained vocal performance. Keyboard standout CJ Lewis and Randy work a wonderful counterpoint in the plaintive "Let You Live," while Randy and his outstanding band set a mellow mood on the traditional "Give Me Jesus"/"No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus" medley.

The album closes with a bonus track, a fine instrumental medley of the CD's tunes.

Randy & Heidi Gunn
The GunnPoint Band
- with Ministry Profile

Based out of Colorado, the dynamic music of Randy & Heidi Gunn and The GunnPoint Band touches the lives of thousands of people across the U.S. every year.

As the Official Pastors of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA), GunnPoint performs Cowboy Church Concerts at the organization’s World & National Events. GunnPoint’s Music Ministry is also heard at Major Pro Rodeo Events and Wild West Shows across the country.

This far-reaching Cowboy Church Ministry actually began a few years ago as a simple invitation to “perform a song or two and share some words of inspiration on the love of Jesus”. Today it takes two 40’ trailers to support the musicians, singers and equipment at a GunnPoint Concert. Best described as, “a little bit country and a little bit Rock & Roll”, the GunnPoint Band’s music always inspires the soul, moves the heart and lifts the spirit.

Their Cowboy Church Concerts are fun and energized services that draw in cowboys & cowgirls who might otherwise never attend a church. The newsletter for this remarkable ministry now reaches over 15,000 people each month with words of inspiration, as well as important news and information.

Randy & Heidi originally became involved in The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association out of a desire to combine their love for horses and the shooting sports. As their involvement in CMSA grew and fellow members discovered their musical gifts and ministry, Randy & Heidi found themselves sharing much more with their fellow CMSA members than just their love for mounted shooting.

The Gunns have won top honors as National & World Cowboy Mounted Shooting Champions.

Those awards have enabled them to reach out to their fellow CMSA members with mutual respect and shared interests & experience. It’s in these ways that God has given Randy & Heidi favor both as competitive shooters and ministers by enabling them to become a vital part of CMSA’s extensive cowboy family.

This past November, GunnPoint performed on the 2005 Inspirational Country Music Awards Show, which was broadcast live on GAC to more than 40 million households around the world, from the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Also performing on the show were Wynonna Judd, Diamond Rio, Andy Griggs, Jamie O’Neil, Josh Turner and many other well-known and respected artists.

GunnPoint was among the top 5 nominees in 3 categories including “Group of the Year” and it was during this event that Randy was honored as Inspirational Country Music’s Male Vocalist of the Year.

The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association itself gave Randy the name of the "Pistol Packin' Preacher”. He has been in ministry since he was a young man. A miraculous recovery from a near fatal accident was the turning point through which he committed his life to ministry, at the age of 15. By 18 & 19, Randy was doing joint concerts with groups like the Imperials and, at 24 he recorded his first album, "Commitment", with Benson, the #1 Christian music label of the time. It became #15 in the nation with three of its songs hitting the top 20 list in Contemporary Christian music.

Heidi was born in Indiana but spent the early years of her childhood growing up in Europe. Her extensive travel, coupled with her ability to speak French and understand other languages has helped her to minister to people with a wide range of backgrounds, in her foreign missions work as well as GunnPoint’s ministry.

Heidi’s gifts, education and accomplishments in art, music, acting, modeling and writing enable her to enrich the work of GunnPoint’s ministry in important ways. Sometimes on the same day, she can be found shifting her focus & attention from supervising the design of a current CD project, (such as their newest CD, STEADY WORKING), to overseeing the design of a website, to collaborating on Gunnpoint’s numerous media productions, articles and studio recordings.

Heidi is a very gifted and talented lady, but her greatest gift is her heartfelt love for people and compassion for those who suffer from emotional or physical burdens. Her deep love for God ministers to all she touches.

Their family commitments combined with the ongoing studio recording of new songs & CDs, plus all their travels to concerts and competitions, keeps their schedule full, but they always make time for their cowboys & cowgirls in moments of need. It’s impossible to calculate the hours Randy & Heidi spend counseling, comforting and encouraging others, one on one, on the phone & via emails.

All these activities, coupled with their video productions, Internet communications and many other outreaches, keep Randy & Heidi incredibly busy. But when asked about their heavy schedule they just respond by saying that they’re simply happy that God has a lot He wants them to do.
