"Detroit Live Goes Back to School"

Next up was Gun Shy. This band performed at the Hayloft about a month ago and blew away the audience with their musical abilities and professionalism. After seeing this band tear up the Hayloft, I made damn sure they were going to be on the bill for this show. When they hit the stage at the Mod X, nobody knew what to expect, except me! From the strike of the first chord to the last, it was nothing but pure, high-energy rock-n-roll. As expected, the crowd loved them! This cast of rockers included Lance Johnson (drums), David Morris (bass), Kat Hernalsteen (synth and vocals), Chris Sieraddski (rhythm guitar) and steering the ship was Michael Morris on lead vocals and guitar. Playing their original hits like "Crash" and "Party Favor," these kids acted and performed like seasoned vets. Gun Shy already has a long line of accomplishments, such as playing national stages and opening for major bands like .38 Special. I swear on my camera (and I never do that), Gun Shy is anything but shy when it comes to rocking your face off. - M.G. Nader

Bio

When NBC affiliate WDIV, a local Detroit TV station, ran a contest to find an original song for their new commercials, a young band made it to the finals and took everyone by surprise. As a result, Gun Shy took the National Stage at Arts Beats and Eats and opened up for Classic Rockers .38 Special and had .38 Special band members cheering them on from the side of the stage. Since that day, Gun Shy has remained focused on honing their craft, and taking their show of all original music to audiences all over metropolitan Detroit, and at the same time adding to their list of noteworthy accomplishments not ordinarily realized by bands so young. Gun Shy has played national stages at prestigious summer festivals such as: Stars and Stripes, St. Clair Riverfest, Arts, Beats & Eats, Boats Balloons and BBQ’s, the Michigan State Fair, and the Mt. Clemens Music Festival, just to name a few. The band was recently recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, for their participation in the Assembly Line Concert – earning a world record for “Longest Non-Stop Live Musical Performance by Multiple Artists”. Gun Shy has been featured on ABC television, WNBC, the Mitch Albom Show – WJR Radio, WHFR Radio, St. Clair Shores Radio Podcasts, WXOU Oakland University Radio, as well as world-wide live stream events from AJ’s Café and Skye Television, UK. The young band has numerous self-titled cds, with the newest EP entitled “That Was Then … This Is Now”, released February 20, 2010.

Gun Shy, has been making a name for themselves as more than just another young band...they write songs, love to perform, and they are serious about what they do. Founding members, the Morris brothers, Michael (lead / rhythm guitar & vocals), and David (bass guitar/vocals), have had the great honor of sharing the stage with many talented musicians, including, Lance Johnson (drums), Kate "Cat" Hernalsteen (vocals / keyboard / synth) and the band's newest addition Dave Edwards (rhythm guitar). This group of seriously talented musicians brings so much to the stage; you quickly realize they are more than your average teenaged garage band. Gun Shy's members range in age from 15-18, and have a uniquely different sound that is heavily influenced by Classic Rock with an alternative pop punk twist. The band's primary focus remains high energy performances of their original music, featuring clever and emotional songwriting.

Each of Gun Shy's members brings influences that, when combined, are an eclectic and electric mix of yesterday and today's hard and alternative rock. Gun Shy makes music beyond their years. They are passionate about what they do and they have a big, rocking sound that makes audiences of all ages stand up and take notice.

Don't let their ages fool you; "Gun Shy" ... is anything but!
