Biography

Gus received his Bachelors Degree in Economics at St. Johns University and then attended New York University where he received his LLM. He was then admitted to the New York State Bar in 1989. However, he was introduced to the guitar at 8 years of age which is when he began taking classical guitar lessons. At 15 he began to experiment with other styles of music and quickly taught himself chord structure and popular rock songs. Gus’s style is very similar to that of Michael Shenker. He is heavily influenced by guitar greats such as: Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Jeff Beck and Neal Schon. He plays consistently throughout New York City with great musicians such as Kenny Aaronson (ex-Derringer, among many others) and Danny Miranda (ex-Blue Oyster Cult and currently on tour with Queen), to name just a few. He is also a prolific songwriter and has had a few of his originals used in Independent film soundtracks. In addition to playing guitar, Gus also plays bass, mandolin and keyboards. Currently, he teaches guitar and can be found playing classic rock covers with his three bands: Baby Johnson, Buster Mojo and Mighty Woodrowe (aka “Gus’s Allstars”). And although he’s been playing for almost 30 years, he can still be found at home dedicating himself to his instrument by practicing the tedious scales that many guitarists gladly left behind in music school.
