Bio

Pianist and composer, Gustavo Mezo is quickly becoming one of the most exciting young musicians from Mexico. His growing up between Mexico City and Paris gives a strong and fresh vibe to music and makes his playing and improvisation unique.

Gustavo has already performed in some of the most prestigious venues in Mexico, Cuba, France and Romania such as Ollin Yoliztli, New Orleans Jazz Club, Loreto, Metrojazz(Mexico) La Zorra y el Cuervo(Cuba), Sunset/Sunside, Café Universel (France) Odeon Theatre (Romania)

Gustavo first picked up the piano when he was 8, he was 9 when he got accepted to the Superior School of Music, and when he turned 17 he started his professional career touring Cuba with the Bellaurus Jazz Band. During his High-School years he led his own band, "Fake Note" performing in the Metrojazz Festival, playing four concerts in four different stations in Mexico City. After finishing High-School he was called to become musical director of Leon Colman, an independent pop singer with whom he recorded his first studio album with producer Hector Ortiz.

After great years of success in Mexico Gustavo moved to Paris, France to study at the American School of Modern Music. In Paris he studied with Christopher Culpo, Peter Giron, Bernard Vidal, Manuel Rocheman, Rick Margitza, among others.

Gustavo Mezo aspires to keep his innovative and original sound and keep expanding his horizons in music.
