Bio

Harrington’s songs have undercurrents of despair and wry humor beneath optimistic, Beatlesesque Britpop melodies sung with dusty, lo-fi vocals. “Happy New Year” sets the tone as the opening track where Harrington’s arrangement talents shine through an escalation of symphonic orchestration, melodic male vocals, the glockenspiel, and, of course, jingle bells. From there the album takes twists and turns along a dim, smoky hallway. Lilting pop rock tune “Oh Jane” features liberated vocals reminiscent of a summer road trip with the windows wide open. “Easy Now You’re Gone” couples a toe-tapping beat with face-slapping lyrics – a delightful juxtaposition. Harrington gracefully rounds out the flavor of the album with the multifaceted psychedelic rock of “Cleopatra’s Clothes,” and the simple and beautiful “Deborah,” a bare bones tribute sung with raw honesty. The album closes with two bonus tracks, both of which are likely the lyrical and compositional superlatives of the album. One downside-you’ll want more.

Harrington is poised to release his second album by late ‘09. He will be playing shows in Southern California this summer and plans to secure shows along the west coast later in the year. The album is also available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, La La, and emusic.

Guy Harrington is the former singer/songwriter/composer for the band World Without Sundays which enjoyed the support of a dedicated fan base (local awards included “Best New Band” in the 2005 LA Music Awards).
