"A Little Bit More CD Review"

G-Whizz's single "Music" -- about the important role music plays in society -- was the very first tune we heard across the Deeboz Muzik's produced "A Little Bit More" riddim, before this 12 track one-riddim set reached us. We classified "Music" as a real nice tune...

"G Whizz - What A Singer"

BY TOUSSAINT SMITH, Staff Reporter

G WHIZZ, IS NORMALLY a descriptive word in instances blurted out by Jamaicans to show astonishment. But, in the case of singer Garland Rowe, also known as G Whizz, it is the kind of reaction he wants fans to have when he performs.

Originally from Linstead, St. Catherine, the 22 year-old multi-talented singer, songwriter and composer got started in the business performing at local contests staged in and around his area. "I got started ultimately from in school but when I left school I started entering some talent contests ... things like Tastee Talent Search, Traxx Star Search, Digicel Rising Star - I touch it once and that was my starting point in my career, me entering some contests and winning them of course."

His newest single entitled, Those Days Are No More on the Spiritual Warfare rhythm has been enjoying favourable rotation on popular radio stations. The rhythm features a host of other dancehall and reggae superstars. On the prowl, G Whizz has done four music videos in less than a year. PERSONAL STYLE

G Whizz attributes versatility to his style of delivery as what differen-tiates G Whizz from other singers. "My style is the versatility and thing because I try to do a wide variety of music, I do R&B, reggae, I do the hardcore dancehall tunes, I even do souls. But most of the artiste they just stuck in one particular type of music so my music range is wide, I try to capture from the old to the young - just everybody." G Whizz added.

International pop superstar Michael Jackson, reggae icon Bob Marley, dancehall superstar Wayne Wonder and singer Tony Curtis are among G Whizz's inspiration.

With a genuine passion for the music and determination, G Whizz wants to take his musical career to its zenith. "So far a pure positive response nothing negative ... I can see that the people are with me so far and so I plan to take it to the highest heights, everybody wants the Grammy, to appear on BET and MTV so yeah man me want reach dem stage deh right now."

He add with high hopes and expectations, G Whizz wants to be remembered as a great artiste. "When I finish all of this and retire (which is not soon) yuh done know I want to be looked on as a great artiste - somebody that come into this business and add something to it, something different, yuh done know you gonna want the house out of it and the car, to set yuh family and set yuh self."
