Gyllian Lozano
Singer/Songwriter, Modern Folk Music
A Period Piece, June 2007

"”A Period Piece” embodies the soulful, genuine, passionate, and easy nature of its creator and will become every adult’s soundtrack to "growing up."
-- writer Tamara Rosenberg

Raised on a combination of flower power, anarchy, and new wave, singer/songwriter Gyllian Lozano has more than her Generation-X background going for her. With her often proclaimed “voice of an angel” and “refreshingly honest” lyrics, Gyllian is a stunning break from the frantic and cliché music of today’s pop culture.

Critics are calling Gyllian Lozano’s long-anticipated debut album—“A Period Piece” "a nostalgic stroll through every human's awakening to life and love..." The "unabashedly honest and refreshing" collection of songs, all written and performed by Gyllian over the past 10 years, features the textured styling of guitarist Daniel Han, acclaimed cellist Tina Guo, and percussionist Andres Zuluaga.

Hot on the heals of a 3-year hiatus from music and performing, Gyllian Lozano has rocketed back with encore performances, opening for the likes of songwriting duo Evan and Jaron and pop legends The Smithereens. She will also be a featured artist on Quickstar Productions' "Chill Out: An Acoustic Compilation" CD due for release in November of 2008.

Music became an undeniably vital part of Gyllian Lozano’s life at a young age. A formally trained classical pianist and singer, Gyllian performed solo, as well as in choirs, throughout her grade-school and high-school years. Venues included county fairs, festivals, concert halls, local restaurants and coffee shops. Eager to try her hand at the rocker role, Gyllian joined a band—New Spirit—In her early teens. At the age of 16, she taught herself to play the guitar so that she could accompany herself more easily, as pianos are slightly less portable. She began playing gigs on a nightly basis, both as a solo act and with good friend Duane Dolieslager, former member of New Spirit. Suffering from an insatiable wanderlust after finishing school, she lived abroad for nearly 4 years before returning to her hometown in Northern California, where she began teaching piano and voice, in addition to performing several nights a week.

Gyllian inevitability moved again, this time to the Los Angeles area in January 2004. Although she took a break from performing in order to “make a decent living in the real world," Gyllian continued to write and dream. Soon, the call of the microphone proved too strong to ignore. Gyllian began performing again in both Northern and Southern California, and soon after gave up her corporate job altogether. She is currently expanding her knowledge of music by attending Berklee College of Music.

With a renewed vigor and a more mature approach to her music, Gyllian’s passion is undeniable. Audiences at her live performances are left awestruck and inspired. Over the next year she will be sharing her music across the nation in cities such as Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Denver.
