A soulful blend of folk, pop, & country with lilting, breathy and melancholy vocals, engaging melodies and poetic lyrics.

Biography

Singer-songwriter, Gypsy with her band "The Merry Mystics" create a unique sound of folk, pop and rock stemming from Gypsy's rich musical upbringing of Americana roots music. Gypsy's songs channel her deep life experiences through poetic lyrics and lilting, beautiful vocals. Growing up in a musical family, Gypsy wrote her first song at the age of five after hearing many of Mom and Dad's living room "jam sessions" with the likes of Tag Lambert (lead guitarist for Bob Wills), and others. Gypsy was inspired to pursue the life of a musical artist after hearing her Mom's recordings on the local country stations in Arizona. Also, Gypsy's uncle Don Rollins wrote the smash hit, "The Race Is On" recorded by George Jones, Ricky Nelson and The Grateful Dead. Writing is in her blood and deep in her heart.

After attending ASU majoring in theatre & music, Gypsy was accepted into The National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York. She then moved to Greenwich Village and began singing at local clubs and open mics, then moved to L.A. to pursue a career in music and film. She continued to write and record songs, and eventually joined the pop trio, Angels of Ecstasy with Kelly Sullivan and Astrid Plane (formerly of Animotion). She and Kelly went on to form Zuzu's Petalz, performing their music in LA clubs. Shortly thereafter, Gypsy went solo.

Gypsy is currently in the studio recording her 3rd album entitled "Mystikal Kiss". Both her 1st and 2nd albums, "Heart of a Traveling Wind" and Theres Still Hope (with over 20,000 downloads on itunes), are flavored with the guest performances of many talented musicians, including Ed Tree (Spencer Davis), Martyn LeNoble (Jane's Addiction), Tony Sales (David Bowie), Rick Shlosser (Van Morrison) and David Palmer (Rod Stewart), and this latest album is sure to as well! Gypsys influences include Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Loreena McKennett, Jewel, Marley, Dido and others.

Lyrics

Flow Back To Me

Written By: Gypsy Racco

I want to go to heaven
in your arms so sweet
and I couldn't ask for more love,
than to hear you whisper softly to me...

You say love, you fill my cup now
you're in my heart,
come along with me.

CHORUS
Walk with me by the river,
walk with me by the sea,
fly and my soul will lift you,
let your love flow back to me.

I want to go to heaven
in your eyes so deep
and I couldn't ask for more love
than to hear your whispered promise to me.

REPEAT CHORUS

I know you're hard to please, love.
Sometimes, I disagree.
But I couldn't love another,
you're in my heart, come along with me.

REPEAT CHORUS

My Apology

Written By: Lyrics & Music by Gypsy Racco & J. Grisell; Musical Arrangement by C. Johnson & V. Murgatroyd,(c) 2, (c) 2

I listen to the beat of your heart
as we lay upon our bed
start to talk over the silence
so I don't have to hear
the words you haven't said
I never seem to learn
the secrets you hold dear
in your unspoken words.

CHORUS
If you could read my mind, you'd see
that you are just like me
if you could read my mind, you'd know
this smile is just for show
if you could read my mind, you'd find
regret is seldom kind
if you could read my mind, you'd see
my apology...

Maybe I could sleep
until this pain goes away
each new day grows harder to bare
inside of this despair
and with this death I hold so near
I never seem to learn
the secrets you hold dear
in your unspoken words.

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
What did you fear?
This prison that we've made is so cold
What did you hear?
The words we couldn't say are now in the way.

REPEAT CHORUS

Breathless

Written By: Gypsy Racco

Hey boy, you’d say I’m selfish just for missin’ you
Angels lend us their wings and then they disappear.
Your kiss…, forever on my lips
but your heart is travelin’ in the wind.

Standin’ at the airport you said
“Don’t turn around girl, just hold me in your heart –
it’s not goodbye.”

CHORUS
And I’m breathless around you
I’m breathless in your arms
I’m restless without you
(and) I can feel your beat inside my heart.

We had forever for one moment in time.
I hear the winds a callin’ and they are saying goodbye.
Your kiss…, lingers on my lips
but your heart is travelin’ in the wind.

Soul of the ancient ones and eyes of the sea
all you are is in me
and I’m in thee.

CHORUS
And I’m breathless around you
I’m breathless in your arms
I’m restless without you
(and) I can feel your beat inside my heart.

BRIDGE
I’ve seen you standing on the cliffs,
a peaceful warrior, wild & free
searching for the truth
in the mountains,
and the power of the sea.

CHORUS
And I’m breathless around you
I’m breathless in your arms
I’m restless without you
(and) I can feel your beat inside my heart.

We had forever for one moment in time…

The Phoenix

Written By: Gypsy Racco

I'm so restless
got that familiar ache inside
longin' for the highway
longin' for the seaside
longin' for my life!

Searchin' for freedom
locked up inside,
somewhere I lost me
when I put my truth aside.

But I will rise up like the Phoenix
I will soar high above this pain
through the ashes and the teardrops
I will trust my heart again.

Baby, I'm sorry
if I let you down;
I was only trying
to learn to love myself.

Searchin' for freedom
locked up inside,
somewhere I lost you
when I set our love aside.

But I will rise up like the Phoenix
I will soar high above this pain
through the ashes and the teardrops
I will trust my heart again.

When the sun comes shinin' through the rain
then the sun will dry the tears away.

I will rise up like the Phoenix
I will soar high above this pain
through the ashes and the teardrops
I will trust my heart again.

Repeat and fade.

Morgaine

Written By: Gypsy Racco

Before the garden of eve
in the mists of the sea
This is where I am free
I am safe in a dream

Where have the faeries gone
Morgaine, their faint cries echo the song
We have forsaken, we have forgotten our Mother

Morgaine, Morgaine
Lost in the acid rain
Morgaine, Morgaine
Lost in the acid rain

We let the toll of the bell
lead us from Heaven to Hell
The fires have all gone down,
blood on their thorny crown

How do we find you there
within us now, sought through our prayers
We have forsaken, we have forgotten our Mother

Morgaine, Morgaine
Lost to us in our shame
Morgaine, Morgaine
Without you, we're not the same.

In the sacred pool
the lost moments in time
are washed away in the rain
like the tears and the pain

Where have the faeries gone
Morgaine, their faint cries echo the song
We have forsaken, we have forgotten our Mother

Morgaine, Morgaine
Lost here inside our pain
Morgaine, Morgaine
Lost here inside our pain

Morgaine, Morgaine
Lost in the acid rain
Morgaine, Morgaine
Mother, we've lost our way.

Goodbye To Sweet 16

Written By: Gypsy Racco & Rosemary Smartt

He told her she was everything a woman ought to be.
He told her she outdated the modern way of things.
He kissed her lips and held her close
until she matched his need.
Those smiles and tears,
the youthful years...
Goodbye to sweet 16.

CHORUS:
Goodbye little daydream
all wrapped in shining arm
the flight of innocence and its illusive charm,
spring time and flowers
a summer's misty fling.
They were fleeting hours...
Goodbye to sweet 16.

He taught her how to love with a woman's full delight,
he took her on a journey to far abandoned heights
and when he brought her back to earth,
he dropped her suddenly,
without a word of love for her...
Goodbye to sweet 16.

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE:
And now she's melancholy.
Why, where did the music go?
All around the world's alive
and she feels strangely old.
A sad regret, a past mistake,
a heartache bittersweet,
among the years that come for her...
Goodbye to sweet 16.

REPEAT CHORUS
