Gypsy Star

The formation of Gypsy Star came together around the compositions of guitarist, Billy Keen, who played many years in rock, R & B and popular music bands touring the US and abroad. He always had an interest in many genres of music and upon hearing artists such as guitarist, Jesse Cook, Otmar Liebert, Gipsy Kings, Loreena McKinnett and Blackmore's Night he began composing original music fusing these newly-found influences into a sound of his own.

After searching for players to form a new band to perform his new compositions, the line-up finally came together in the spring of 2006 with the name Gypsy Star.

The sound is flavored with the romance of Spain, the traditions of Ireland, the mystique of the Medierranean, the passion of South America and the rhythms of the Caribbean blended with rock, jazz and folk and blended with a smooth classical elegance.

Utilizing primarily acoustic instruments such as classical guitar, violin, flute, woodwinds, exotic hand percussion along with lead and harmony vocals, Gypsy Star's rock-pop world-beat fusion music is a cultural feast for the eyes and ears as their poetry is set in motion by Flamenco and folkloric dance.

Gypsy Star has recorded and released 2 full album CDs and performs before enthusiastic crowds in theaters, concert halls and festivals.
