Bio

Lyricist, songwriter, and extraordinary performer are three ways to describe GZAZ, but humanitarian and Hip Hop’s next mega superstar are surely undisputed additions to that list.

New Jersey native Gregory “GZAZ” Jackson has been waiting for his big break and now in 2007 it looks like it is finally here. A Hip Hop artist who aims to stay true to the art form and deliver quality material, GZAZ has used the past few years to perfect an art he has been using for years. After relocation to North Carolina GZAZ along with longtime friend Jon “Jon J” Jeffrys, formed the production duo, Dialtone. The duo soon began producing and writing for many of North Carolina’s rising artist. Their blend of hip hop and soul attracted artist from all across the state. After years of work behind the scenes in 2002 the duo crafted GZAZ’s first solo offering which soon became an underground hit. In promotion of his solo album, GZAZ made appearances on the Carnival Cruise ship, “The Fascination”, Chapel Hill’s 506 Club, and even opened for The Justice League of Durham. After negotiations with a label fell through, GZAZ decided to push on and pursue another independent venture, but this time embracing more producers, artist, and music entrepreneurs that he had encountered while promoting his first offering.

In 2006 GZAZ hooked up with the management services of The Don Entertainment’s CEO DonJuan Clark. DonJuan’s credits include work with Grammy Award Winning songwriter/singer Kandi Burruss (TLC, Destiny’s Child, E-40), Upfront Records (Akon and DeVyne Stephens), and Songwriter/Producer Shamora Crawford (Monica, JLO). Since signing with The Don Entertainment, GZAZ has spent countless hours in the studio preparing his second solo offering, an album that truly shows who he is an artist. When not working on his own material, he logs in time with Chapel Hill Hip Hop artist, Apollo. The result is appearance on two tracks from Apollo’s 2007 album, I Hope They Know, executive produced by production sensation Taylor “Proper-T” Johnson, and D-Live's 2007 "Industrial Revolution". In 2007 his hard work also gained him national attention when he became a two time finalist in the Song of the Year songwriting contest for his songs “Future” and “Lets Move”. GZAZ has also just further established himself as a international superstar with: his number 1 debut on myspace.com's North Carolina music charts in the genres of Hip Hop, Rap, and R&B, and a number 12 debut in all North Carolina genres.

Through the hard work and struggle of trying to succeed in this industry GZAZ has still maintained his focus of making sure fans and musicians understand GZAZ the artist and person. In the fall of 2007, GZAZ is aiming to release his new untitled album that boasts production by Dialtone, Proper T, Wyshmaster, and many more. North Carolina may already know GZAZ as its prodigy Hip Hop artist, and after one listen to his new material anyone that did not know will surely know the name GZAZ.
