Haak-MacNab: drums, megatar and vocals is a duo that Discmakers calls “a herd of elephants coming right at you.” The songs have a progressive rock influence, with irresistible groove.

Biography

So who the Fripp is Haak-MacNab?

The Seattle-based group features German-born, Megatar player (and famous Chapman Stick player), Dino Haak and percussionist Doc MacNab, who came together in January, 2005. This vivacious project consists of only Haak and MacNab—who sing all vocal lines and play all instruments with no loops or samples. Haak’s 12-string Mobius Megatar handles like a champion guitarist and bassist played together, while MacNab brings a powerful rhythmic presence to their performances. The chemistry is like powder to flame!

Songwriting kudos include the song "Live from Beijing", which finished as Second-Runner-Up in a theme song submission for the USA’s National Football League. The group has international appeal, also, with both members being multi-lingual, speaking and singing in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and French. In Europe, Asia and the US, Doc and Haak’s style of blending cross-cultural traditions grabs people’s attention.

Der Stadtsoldat

Written By: Dino Haak

Der Stadtsoldat (FATHER 2003)

Never cared to be pretty
I head for the city
To hit the town

Like a true urban soldier
Fat chip on my shoulder
I wear it down

All the places I’ve been to
The things we get into
I’ll mark them down

Like a true urban soldier
Fat chip on my shoulder
I’m in your town

Getting set for intrusion
Stirring confusion
I come around

Do you find me exciting
Pretty inviting
I wear the crown

All the places I’ve been to
The cities I’ve seen to
I mark them down

Like the true urban soldier
A tip on your shoulder
Don’t turn around

Lowdown…

Life Bit Me

Life Bit Me
(FATHER 2002)

Distant Thunder is the world you put me under
Please don’t stop as we’re rocking with the thunder
A woman and a man should be flowing like a heatin’
And a-rock to the beat as the jumpers are meeting

Shake it to the roof as I’m rocking like a man
Play that fonky groove again
and move it to the drummer like a mare would move in heat
And let me tell you this is world-class beat
Pump it!

The world has turned the body has awaken
Like a creature in the jungle am I writhing am I bakin’
Anybody with a little sende would see
The word has turned its back on me

And do score and are we bitchin’
Drinking brew from the witches’ kitchen
The body’s doing things on which the mind would not agree
And let me tell you, here we gone

Life bit me
In the buttock and in the backdrop
It bit me in the buttercup
It bit me at the bus-stop and it won’t stop, it bit me good
Life bit me at my laptop and in the bathtub
It bit me like a rubber duck it bit me in the buttock and it won’t stop

Look around turn around you’re dancing like a chicken
The fonky powergroove’s keepin’ your clockwork tickin’
Tick-tock
“Shock”!

And do score and are we bitchin’
Drinking brew from the witches’ kitchen
The body’s doing things on which the mind would not agree
And let me tell you, here we gone

Life bit me
In the buttock and in the backdrop
It bit me in the buttercup
It bit me at the bus-stop and it won’t stop, it bit me good
Life bit me at my laptop and in the bathtub
It bit me like a rubber duck it bit me in the buttock and it won’t stop
