"My cousin's blog! She works for Emusic!"

On Thursday I got to see my cousin Hadar perform and she absolutely blew me away (I am not just saying this because she’s my cousin!). She just released her debut album, In My Shoes, so it was her CD release show, at The Bitter End in Manhattan (yep, the same place Lady Gaga played just a few years ago, before she was Lady Gaga).

A little background: Hadar was born and raised in Israel, went to college at the Berklee School of Music in Boston and moved to New York after that. Her music is contemporary pop/rock, which isn’t generally the kind of stuff I listen to, but, like I said, seeing her perform totally blew me away. She’s a great songwriter, has an amazing voice, and a wonderful stage presence, not to mention she’s one of the many incredible feminists in my family, which really comes through in her music. She’s going to have some more shows coming up in New York so check out her MySpace for more info! - Laura Leebov

Discography

I recently released my debut album "In My Shoes" with "In Her Image Music", however I've had additional releases. One being
"Lovely Lonely Girl" which was a single featured on a compilation CD released by Stray Dog Haus. The second release I had was for an AIMP pitching session with the tunes "With Me" & "Butterfly". These tunes were pitched to the A&R reps of Kelly Clarkson and Anastacia.

Bio

Hadar is an exciting young American-Israeli singer/songwriter who makes hit music with a message. Growing up, Hadar was a popular performer in Israel, with appearances on Israeli TV and at major national and municipal events. Upon completing her Army service, Hadar enrolled in the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel and then transferred to the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she graduated with honors. After moving to New York, she began touring with such groups as the Sheldon Low Band, the Josh Nelson Project, and Black Tie Boogie. In addition to being a co-writer and guest artist on Sheldon Low's albums, On One Foot, It’s all Challah to Me, and Light up Shabbat, Hadar has also recorded with the Josh Nelson Project, Sister Venus, and Black Tie Boogie. Her music was featured on a compilation album published by Stray Dog Haus Music, and her songs "Butterfly" and "With Me" were chosen to participate in a pitching session for Kelly Clarkson and Anastasia.

Hadar recently released her debut album, "In My Shoes," a musical exploration of social justice and equal opportunity. Combining her signature powerhouse vocals with soaring pop/rock melodies and deep soulful ballads, "In My Shoes" aims to inspire a new generation with its message of empowerment and inclusion.

Now appearing in venues throughout the Northeast, Hadar is a singer/songwriter with something to say, and a fresh way to say it.
