"Splashy fen"

“Gauteng's very own bagpipe metal outfit, who at 12pm on Saturday (Splashy Fen) played to a crowd of thousands while the beer tent sat near empty.” LLOYD GEDYE for the Mail and Guardian - Mail and Guardian

"Sounding off with the SA Tattoo"

Highland dancers? Well, of course, but with an accompaniment that rocks. On spins the platform again and a crew of blue-banded Braveheart barbarians in kilts - Haggis and Bong - let rip with bagpipes and electronics while the girls flourish and leap over their broadswords in style. - http://www.artlink.co.za

"stirring stuff at the Tattoo"

The massed Highland dancers, coming from studios around the country, did the fabulous sword dance, accompanied by Haggis and Bong, a topless, tartan-skirted Celtic metal-fusion band. It was an unusual combination, but it worked.

"News from all over"

That brings us to the music of Haggis and Bong: It’s asskickingly sick. In songs such as “Spandex (It’s A Privilege Not A Right)”, the band combines a furious double-bagpipe attack with blast beats and double bass. I’ll admit, you probably have to like the sound of bagpipes (which I do) to appreciate this music. But if you’ve never heard a shredder on the highland pipes, check out the tunes streaming on the band’s MySpace page - No Clean Singing

"Haggis and Bong"

"And there you are, thinking making Metal requires drums, guitars, bass and, possibly, a vocalist and keyboard. Well you’re WRONG laddie! There’s more roads leading to Rome. Or Scotland in this case, as it proves to be very possible to make Metal with just bagpipes and a drum kit. Haggis and Bong is the living proof of this.

If you like bagpipes you better check this out." - deathmetalbabboon.com
