"Mmm...Sheep Stomach"

...[Hagus MaGagus]'s bouncing-off-the-walls blend of twisted compositions, Zappa-like spoke-sung vocals, Claypudlian bass guitar, and jazzy, snappy drums is as ridiculous as it is infectious, the kind of music that'll have you laughing out loud... - New Times (Jonathan Zwickel)

"Hagus MaGagus"

Supersized drummer Josh "Papa Bear" Connolly proved a supersized talent, dishing out the beat and keeping the guitar-bass combo of Jim Powers and Brian J. Lang grounded when they would start to travel off into Noodling Solo Land. The band hopped from funk-rock Chili Peppers territory to washed-out psychedelia, with Lang's Frank Zappa meets Les Claypool voice spouting rapid-fire lyrics over it all.
A cover of Phish's "You Enjoy Myself" lacked the vocal jamming that made that song a favorite for fans of the now-defunct band, but Hagus Magagus substituted a killer drum solo. While I usually dismiss drum solos as both repetitive and self-indulgent, the jaw-dropping skin-smacking insured Connolly's cred.
- City Link (Dan Sweeney)

Bio

Now you might be asking yourself, "So where has Hagus MaGagus been all my life?" Well over the past few years, the young trio has toured the U.S. and Europe opening up for groups such as Steel Pulse, The Meters, Victor Wooten and Karl Denson, just to name a few. City Link's Dan Sweeney had this to say about the band: "Supersized drummer Josh "Papa Bear" Connolly proved a supersized talent, dishing out the beat and keeping the guitar-bass combo of Jim Powers and Brian Lang grounded when they would start to travel off into Noodling Solo Land. The band hopped from funk-rock Chili Peppers territory to washed-out psychedelia, with Lang's Frank Zappa meets Les Claypool voice spouting rapid fire lyrics over it all."
With their first full-length album in the works, Hagus MaGagus is now ready to spread their gospel of funk to the rest of the world. All three members share a passion for bringing something new and fresh to the music industry, which unfortunately has seen better days. A return to Europe is anticipated, and the band is in the process of booking frequent tours through the U.S. So pop in that Hagus MaGagus CD, turn up the volume, and let the beautiful dance between the groove and your eardrums begin.
