"Hagus MaGagus #2"

"[Hagus MaGagus]'s bouncing-off-the-walls blend of twisted compositions, Zappa-like spoke-sung vocals, Claypudlian bass guitar, and jazzy, snappy drums is as ridiculous as it is infectious, the kind of music that'll have you laughing out loud."
- Jonathan Zwickel of New Times

"Hagus MaGagus"

"Supersized drummer Josh "Papa Bear" Connolly proved a supersized talent, dishing out the beat and keeping the guitar-bass combo of Jim Powers and Brian Lang grounded... the band hopped from funk-rock Chili Peppers territory to washed-out psychedelia, with Lang's Frank Zappa meets Les Claypool voice spouting rapid fire lyrics over it all." - Dan Sweeney of City Link

THE STORY
Hagus's story goes back nearly a decade to a place where all three members met, ASM (associated schools of music). After school each member took private lessons and attended ASM bands (different level bands compiled of various ASM students). As the three individually grew they kept running into each other and were all a part of the Jazz combo Shadow Bob with a keyboard player. Jimmy the guitar player soon started writing original instrumentals and the combo eventually recorded CD. The CD got to the hands of the Make a Wish bandleader and the boys were invited to play with the Make a Wish band in Europe during the summer of 2002. While over in Europe the 3 lads agreed to form a power trio. Back home with a new Shadow Bop, Brian (for a still unknown reason) decided to rap over one of Jim's original. As smiles grew wider, the three knew something special was happening. Originally intended as an all out shred fest (i.e. dream theater/liquid tension experiment), once the three got together to write original tunes... it was something else. Hagus MaGagus seemed a perfect name for this different sound. Through years of playing, recording, and rehearsing under the radar, these three have stuck together and are looking towards bigger and better opportunities.
