Combining traditional elements from Ozarkian folklore and bluegrass beats into a high-energy rock sound gives Ha Ha Tonka's music a feel like no other, and carves out a space in the indie rock scene that holds their music alone.

Biography

Ha Ha Tonka is a 4-piece group based out of the Ozarks in southern Missouri. Having just signed to Bloodshot Records (Bobby Bare, Jr., Ryan Adams, Neko Case, Old 97’s) their debut album, Buckle in the Bible Belt, will be re-released nationally this Fall ‘07. Ha Ha Tonka specializes in what can best be described as "foot stompin' indie rock," with disarming and effortless anthems that owe as much to high and lonesome Ozarks bluegrass as laconic indie rock. Constant touring over the course of the past 2 years throughout North America, performing over 200 shows in 60 markets in support of national acts such as Robert Randolph, Ben Kweller, Limbeck, Soul Asylum, Steel Train, Say Anything and Waking Ashland, has created quite a buzz about this unique band. Their incredible live show, coupled with a style all their own, has been winning over audiences nationwide.
