Bio

To create the debut release From the Skies, singer/songwriter Jeff Curtis Brown reached out to friends and fellow musicians from many past projects and brought them together in the studio. The album was recorded in Dallas and Seattle and features the talents of Maggie Bjorklund (Jack White, John Doe) on pedal steel, Philip Peeples (Old 97s) on drums, Anne Marie Ruljancich (Jesse Sykes) on viola, and many others.

The music on From The Skies is Influenced by the great songwriters/bands of the past 50 years. Starting with the glam stomp of Apparitions through the 60's pop of Just A Boy to the alt country feel of Redline and the folk undertones of Blackwing Bird, this record has something for everyone.

From The Skies is co-produced by Dallas producer/solo artist Salim Nourallah, a multiple-year winner of the Best Local Producer award from the Dallas Observer. Salim also contributes bass and back-up vocals.

Half Rushmore's current live band, based in Seattle, is composed of seasoned stage professionals, including members of Red Jacket Mine and Sterling Loons.

Prior to his work with Half Rushmore, Jeff has played with many projects in Austin, Madison, and Seattle, most recently with Downpilot, Sterling Loons, and Weary. With these bands he has opened for acts including The National, Old 97s, Richard Hawley, Richard Buckner, and Kristen Hersh. Over the years he has worked with Roadrunner Records and Tapete Records.

Music from the album has been featured in Northwest podcasts You Can and You Will (Redline) and Just Woke Up (Five Thirty Three). A live Half Rushmore performance was featured in the pilot episode of Seattle rock game show Rock Snobs, where Jeff was also crowned winner and ultimate Rock Snob.
