Half Broke

In early 2004, guitarist Scott Spencer and singer/drummer Chris Semones decided to start writing some tunes. As a joke they posted some of the tunes on the internet. A spark of interest from locals made them decide to take the music thing full on. They added bassist David Dudley. With a wealth of confidence and no money, Half Broke was born.

The first few months were used to write songs and record their first CD "Last Laugh". They got out over 50 copies of their CD without a show and basically a poor recording.

In the fall of 2004 Half Broke started to play their first few shows. With an energetic live show they started to cause a stir around Southwest Virginia-Northern North Carolina. With a handful of shows under their belt the band decided it was time to start writing again. Not being completely satisfied with the musical direction of their first CD, Half Broke decided to focus more on their influences with writing this time around. With roots of influence deep in the 80's "Metal Years"and a liking of today's Hard Rock, the true sound of Half Broke was conceived.

Their sound is an emotional and aggressive ride through melody. Guitar riffs drive the music hard as the vocals hark back to the sounds of "old school" Metal. The music of Half Broke has a newly dated sound that makes them have a sound all their own.

Live shows are something to experience. Drummer/Singer Chris Semones is a cross between Animal from the Muppets and Tommy Lee. His emotional style of vocals and frontman behind the drum antics keep the show alive. With Spencer and Dudley playing "upfront wingmen" the show of Half Broke is something not to be missed.
