Bio
Hamish describes himself as a “21st century transient man”, and it is not hard to see why. Having committed himself to the road since leaving school he has performed in an impressive amount of different countries. Following the surf and the snow Hamish has blown away audiences throughout Europe, North America, South Africa and Indonesia. His songs are reflections of all that he has seen on his journey.
‘On The Rocks’ is arguably Hamish’s greatest work to date and was inspired by a road trip through western Europe. “ When I was eighteen I decided to drive to morocco, following the surf down the Atlantic coast of Europe. I packed up my 1 litre Fiat Uno with my guitar and surfboard and followed the sun south. Playing gigs as I went along I had the pleasure of French, Spanish and Portuguese audiences.”
“ On the Rocks was inspired by a very stormy ferry trip through the Bay of Biscay. I was on the deck when a huge pod of dolphins came out of the setting sun in the west and started playing in the wake of our huge ship,”
The most memorable gig was in a village called Ribamar north of Lisbon. “The gig was pretty good with a nice crowd of locals and travelling surfers, but the thing I remember best was finding that my trusty car which had been so good to me had been stolen.”
Left with no choice Hamish Had to fly home after 4 months of travelling, surfing and easy living.
That was really just the beginning of Hamish’s journey which now sees him living in South London. He has played all over The capital, including the last ever gig at The infamous Marquee Club. Hamish has big plans for 2008 and is planning a tour of the USA in June/July and he will continue to play blistering live sets throughout London and the UK.
