"Seattle Weekly "Bitter Vines" EP Review"

Hammontree’s lusty croon recalls Melissa Etheridge, Ann Wilson, and Grace Slick, and her band’s classic-rock licks tether them to a fitting blue-collar sound." Gwendolyn Elliott, Seattle Weekly - Seattle Weekly

"RAIL and the Angela Hammontree Band Tore It Up..."

"The next band up and closing the show was the Angela Hammontree Band. What better way to finish a great evening of fine music. Rail is a tough act to follow, but AHB did just fine. The lead vocalist and bands namesake, is the owner of a very powerful and beautiful voice. She was recently nominated as best female vocalist by Hot Rocks TV for their 2010 awards show. Angela and band served up some cool original tunes and a few cover songs that really pleased the crowd. They tackled a cover of Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality”. That is a difficult song to play, but I have to say I really enjoyed the way they pulled it off. Stage left of Angela on lead guitar was Brooks Clark. He can really make that guitar talk. Very talented guitarist. Stage right was Ben Lynch on bass guitar. He isn’t a lazy bass player like some can be. His fingers were flying all over the place. You can tell he’s been playing the bass for quite awhile and knows his way around the frets..."

Bio

Angela Hammontree is a native PNW singer and songwriter known for her big pipes, catchy hooks, and uncompromising lyrics. Her music blends the classic sensibilities of such NW predecessors as Heart and Alice In Chains with a healthy dose of sly humor and punk attitude. Her vocal chops have been compared to everyone from Grace Slick to Chris Cornell, but she has cultivated a style of delivery that is truly her own. She has been a force in the Seattle area since 2003, both as a recording artist and as leader of the Angela Hammontree Band (AHB).

Angela's live band lineups have performed on Seattle radio's massively popular "Bob Rivers Show" and have played countless venues and festivals, including a headlining slot at the 2010 Seattle Hempfest.

In 2011 Hammontree took a brief hiatus before beginning writing for her next album. In January of 2013, she released the EP "Bitter Vines" to overwhelmingly positive reviews. "Bitter Vines" hosts an array of talented musicians and producers and features the driving rock Hammontree is known for, in addition to some new ventures into genres such as blues and folk. She is currently recording her next EP, which is sure to offer more surprises along with surefire rock hits listeners have come to expect from Angela.

Angela Hammontree and her live crew bring the type of dynamic live experience to the masses that only a singer and songwriter of the highest order can bring, both dropping jaws and opening minds along the way.
