Bio
It’s been a healthy couple of years since three guys decided to take on an infamous university landmark and use it as a moniker for their rock ‘n’ roll future.
Since that time, Hancock Basement has played with a ridiculous number of on-the-pulse international and national acts (including The Presets, The Sleepy Jackson, Datarock, Digitalism and Cut Off Your Hands), driven its orange-kinda-yellow van from state to state, ditched the make-up and silly costumes, and even gained a bass-player on the way.
In late 2008 the band decamped to Bigjesusburger studios in Sydney to record with Jorden Brebach (Dappled Cities) and Berkfinger (Philadelphia Grand Jury). The fruits of the session won Richard Kingsmill’s approval, and the band took out triple j’s Trackside Unearthed competition with ‘Hey Kids’.
Hot on the heels of months spent playing on the east coast with the likes of Bertie Blackman, John Steel Singers and Tom Ugly, Hancock Basement will soon release its newest track ‘Oh, Todd’. With some big name remixes of the track and an EP release to follow, the band will be seizing the remainder of 2009 in style.
Hancock Basement has played festivals including Stonefest and Trackside, and supported THE PRESETS, THE SLEEPY JACKSON, DATAROCK, CUT OFF YOUR HANDS, DIGITALISM, BERTIE BLACKMAN, JOHN STEEL SINGERS, OPERATOR PLEASE, BLUEJUICE, THE SCARE, YOUNG & RESTLESS, JOHN STEEL SINGERS, LOST VALENTINOS, YOUTH GROUP and many more.
'These guys are good - REALLY good.'
