Bio

Her self-titled album HanHan, released in 2014, was funded by the Ontario Arts Council of Canada. Since releasing the album, her songs have been featured in films, TV shows {Mad Dogs (Amazon Original Series), Tattoo Age Season 2 (Viceland), The Indefinites (2017)} and has have been played on the radio in Berlin, France and the Philippines.

Two of her songs have been picked up by EMI publishing in the UK. EMI's catalogues classify the songs as "urban tribal". The music mixes funk and hip-hop, with Philippine tribal gong music. In 2017, her song, "World Gong Crazy" featuring DATU was nominated for "Best Song" in the Berlin Music Video Awards, where she also performed. Recently, she performed in Stern Grove Festival (San Francisco) and Grand Performances (Los Angeles). She also continues to perform locally in Toronto, where she is based.

Migrating to Canada in 2006, HanHan started performing in drop-in poetry workshops. Soon thereafter, she joined a variety of artist collectives and performed in a variety of community events. Some of the proceeds of her album were donated to the Lake Sebu School of Living Traditions in the Philippines, where she spent time immersing herself in the Tboli community, because she believes in preserving traditional indigenous arts and culture through passing them on to the next generation. She works with choreographer Fly Lady Di and Hataw, a multidisciplinary performance arts group, in a variety of contexts from music festivals and venues in and beyond Toronto as well as in theatre productions.
By day, HanHan works as a registered nurse in the operating room specializing in cardiac surgery, an active member of Toronto's Filipino-Canadian community, and is no stranger to the struggles of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and working immigrants
