Biography

Hank Berumen is a working musician who makes his home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He is known for his singing/guitar playing, as well as his songwriting, which has earned him respect from critics and the general public alike. Among other awards, Hank was voted "Best Band Coast Style" by the readers of Coast Night Life Observer, THE Gulf Coast Entertainment Newspaper! He also received critical acclaim and much public enthusiasm for his latest cd, "Havana". Within his style, evidence of his influences range from Albert King, BB King and Eric Clapton to Stephen Stills, Neil Young and John Martyn. Yet these only serve as ingredients to his musical pot of gumbo, allowing his musicality to shine through.
Hank has grown up on the gulf, both chronologically as well as musically and has been plugged into the music scene a long time, making friends with his easy going manner and stage presence. He has played throughout the land and was even invited to play eastern block countries in Europe before the wall came down!

Lyrics

Havana

Written By: Hank Berumen

In the darkness of the night
There’s a girl who's waiting
In the shadows of the
Full moon’s light
Yes, she’s waiting
Waiting for me
I’m the one
She’s depending on tonight
Who’ll help to set her free

CH)
She’s the dark haired girl
Her mama don’t understand
I’m her one true friend
Who’ll do the best that he can
The Louisiana girl
With her toes in the sand
Wanting to be free
Oh Havana,
I wish you were my girl
You’re the one bright light
In an otherwise dismal world

Now I’m standing here
Watching them go
Like a soft cool breeze
Washing over the Gulf Of Mexico
She found her true love
Out on the Ponchatrain
I’m standing on the north shore
Freezing in the winter’s rain

CH)

She’s the dark haired girl
Her mama don’t understand
I’m her one true friend
Who’ll do the best that he can
The Louisiana girl
With her toes in the sand
Wanting to be free
Oh Havana,
I wish you were my girl
You’re the one bright light
In an otherwise dismal world

Spirits In The Mist

Written By: Hank Berumen

Out near the river bank
Deep in the fields
A single voice is haunting me
With a pain I can feel
A solitary voice
The devil in disguise
Steaming anger in the wind
Softly brushing by

I feel a presence
From the past
I feel it in my brain
Prejudice born long ago
You know it hasn’t changed
The world keeps on turning
Shrugging off the blame
Walking down
This lonesome road
Driving me insane

Break

Battles waged
In cotton fields
Stories they could tell
Blue & Gray the blues men say
The devil brought his hell
And the night
Swallows me whole
I’m helpless in its fist
Ghosts are dancing to a song
Spirits in the mist

Let's Fall In Love

Written By: Hank Berumen

She’s got a face that
Lights up the night
She’s got a smile
That makes it all right
You know I want her so much
You know I love her so much

Late last night she said this
Has to end
Said we’d be better off
Staying friends
Can’t get her out of my mind
Won’t let her out of my mind

Ch)
So let’s fall in love
Fall from the highest ground
Let’s fall in love
I can’t believe this could
Happen to me
What can I do?
What am I suppose to do

Just yesterday
She was passing my way
Said, “c’mon baby, let’s
Get away
We won’t tell anyone
They’ll never know
Where we’ve gone

Chorus

M8)
So why the sudden
Change of heart
Was it something I said?
Can’t get you out of my head
It’s tearing me apart
Baby, please
Listen to my plea
It’s you that I want
It’s you that I need
We’ll hideaway
Just you and me
