Bio

Hannah May Allison grew up in Palo Alto, a town 30 miles south of San Francisco. Although the area is more known for the Grateful Dead than country artists, Hannah developed a love and appreciation for traditional country music. Her parents originated from Oklahoma, and her mother was a country singer herself in her 20’s. Hannah May gives them credit for influencing her country roots at a young age.  Hannah May’s laid back West Coast personality mixed with her Southern flair makes her the definition of “California country.”

Hannah May started writing songs and playing shows in high school, and developed fan base in the Bay Area. Hannah May decided to take her career to the next chapter by moving to Nashville in 2012. Now 21, Hannah May continuously plays at some of the top songwriting venues in Nashville. She has been developing her songwriting craft by co-writing with others on a weekly basis. Although Hannah May is living in Nashville, she frequently visits the Bay Area. She has been on two Northern California summer tours, in which she has played at well-known venues such as the famous Hotel Utah in San Francisco, and world-known Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Hannah May has developed her own unique sound over the years. Although she has always been influenced by country, she also blends in  more modern influences of rock and pop. Her many influences include The Dixie Chicks, Lee Ann Womack, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and Michelle Branch. Hannah May’s unique voice and wavy blonde surfer hair helps her stand out on stage.

In May of 2014, Hannah May released her debut EP titled The Best Thing. Since the release, Hannah May has been writing more than ever before. Although Hannah May has plans of putting out another EP in the near future, she wants to take her time to make sure that she is putting out her best work and the best songs that represent Hannah May as an artist. For now, Hannah May has started posting demos of new songs on her SoundCloud page.  These songs are available to stream, including her newest demo, “Tom Collins.”

Hannah May is a regular performer at many singer/songwriter venues in Nashville. She invites anyone living in or planning a visit to Nashville area to keep an eye on her performance schedule and to come out to see her whenever she is playing.
