Bio

For a girl of only 20, singer songwriter Hannah Chapplain’s voice is complex and mature. Born in Adelaide, Australia and later raised in rural Alton Ontario, her roots are deeply planted in a heritage rich in integrity and values. Raised on a diet of country and rock music in an artistic and entrepreneurial family, Hannah writes about her rich life-experiences and has created a songbook of over 200 original songs with 25 of them professionally produced and available on iTunes.

At age 16, Hannah started performing at Ray’s Bistro in Alton. After she posted several songs on MySpace in 2011, Producer Anthony Santonocito (Killingsworth Studio) invited her to New York to record her debut album “Hannah Chapplain”. It was released in December 2011 and featured 10 of her original songs, led by the popular radio-friendly tracks “Letter to the Rain” and “December”.

Hannah is deeply committed to giving back to her community, opening the 2011 Boost for Kids Foundation fundraiser concert along with Blue Rodeo. In September 2011, Hannah performed at a benefit concert with Dan Hill where she also received a prestigious music scholarship. Hannah has a heart for children and recently had the honour of playing at Sick Kids Hospital in their Bear Theatre in Toronto.

In 2012, Hannah opened for Canadian rock legend Kim Mitchell at the Canada 3.0 digital media conference where, as a budding entrepreneur, she also pitched her new music business model to tech-savvy investors, raising $25,000 in seed funding. Two weeks later she opened for the Jim Cuddy Band at Illuminaqua.

In August 2012 Hannah joined a superstar line-up of country and rock artists, including Paul Brandt, Sheryl Crow, Tim McGraw, Kid Rock and Carrie Underwood, at the Boots and Hearts 2012 music festival, performing tracks from her then EP “Country Girl Soul” produced by well known musician and Hey Castel Executive Producer, Marc Ganetakos.

Trained originally as a figure skater, Hannah enjoys performing in high-stress environments. This came in handy this February and March when she had the privilege of opening for Canadian rock icons April Wine and Lighthouse who played to sold-out crowds in some of Ontario’s best regional concert venues.

Taking a new tech-centric approach to the music business, Hannah recently released three EPs in a variety of rock-crossover styles, which she market-tested with fans through social media channels. Hannah also released her top selling country song “I Miss You” in Japanese and recorded an orchestral-pop version of her country tune “Here with You” as a duet in operatic Italian. This seemingly unorthodox approach in the music industry is a classic product-market fit tactic used in the tech industry, and allowed Hannah to quickly converge on a style her fans wanted to hear and the subsequent release of her second album “Country Girl Soul” in February 2013. This country-rock album was a departure from her first pop-rock offering “Hannah Chapplain”, and not surprisingly reflects her musical passion and country roots.

Hannah has had over a dozen media mentions in the past year, including appearances on a number of radio and TV broadcasts. She also produced two professional HD music videos and over 15 unplugged videos of her most popular songs, which are available on her YouTube channel.

Hannah is coached by Canadian Opera superstars David and Sandie Pomeroy, who have helped her develop a powerful vocal quality. Hannah’s bohemian country-rock voice is reflected in her attitude and gritty style.

Hannah has a loyal following of concert-fans in southern Ontario, and a developing web presence. She gives weekly live performances on her own interactive web-channel and has a growing following on social media sites.

She performs solo acoustic, with a duo or trio, and also with her full electric band. Hannah is available to open for other artists or perform as a headline act.
