Hannah Miller

I realize that in reading this you may have been expecting a little description of who I am and where I come from all written in the third person coming from the perspective of some outsider who has a vested interest in my sounding good. I guess that’s what most bio’s consist of. But, seeing as how at this point there is no such outsider for me, I decided to forego trying to make it sound like there was, (the third person thing) and instead just give it to you straight. Wow. That preamble was probably largely unnecessary….
I grew up in southern Alabama, Dothan, to be exact, and for several years worked diligently on overcoming my southern drawl. Today, I am happy to report, I have people regularly exclaim that they can’t believe I am from Alabama because I don’t have an accent. Well, hard work pays off…..Now I live in Columbia, SC, with my husband of three years, give or take, and I work part time as a waitress at an old family owned Italian restaurant called Villa Tronco. If you have to work in the restaurant business, a family owned one is the way to go.
Music. I have always been drawn to it like a moth to a flame and am now sitting in the fire. I picked up a guitar sometime in middle school I think, and started writing songs early in my college days, if you don’t count the one I wrote when I was four or all the dark musings of a high school student intent on being poetic and “troubled” that might pass for songs of some sort. But anyway. I started traveling the coffee shop circuit almost a year ago, just to get out there and share my songs with people. I found that I liked it and kept doing it, and I am still doing it, although I took a few months off from gigging to record a CD; just a homebrew that my husband, Jim, mixed. It is a simple deal, seven songs that I wrote, sung by me and accompanied by my guitar. You can listen to some of it here if you are interested.
Now I am off again, playing wherever I can, trying to make the most of every opportunity, and trying with all my might to follow this dream I have been given.
