Hanz Nobe new EP, entitled, Next Round, is the Houstonian’s first crack at a complete project. Nobe is a producer/artist which is sort of the current theme of today’s hip-hop. Next Round begins as Nobe profess about his apprehension to losing in “Get That W.” This first song could possibly be given to Meek Mill or Ace Hood, the heavy bass resembles something both artists would gladly ramble over. The most positive aspect of Next Round is each songs thematic approach. Nobe touches key points within the hip hop subculture, in “Steady,” and “Be You.” “Widow,” may very well be one of the better songs on Next Round, it possesses an erie track that supports the dark honesty that Nobe displays through his bars. The entire EP is not serious, nor is it only doom and gloom. “For The Night,” is an memorial to hip hop great Heavy D, and Nobe follows in the legends shoes by focusing on the fairer sex, and a little partying. Next Round is a five song pseudo EP consisting of above average production, and content, surrounded by middle of the road lyrics. Nobe plans to test the waters with this project. The determined young artist is open to positive and negative criticism. Next Round consists of a very distinct sound and subject matter, and its reception will be the barometer Nobe applies going forward.
