Hardened Hero

Hardened Hero

BandRockMetal

Intense, loud and large. We're a no bull band who is grabbing the torch of epic hard rock, and carrying it forward as the new generation. From the moment we start playing to the time we stop, we leave no time for air as we blast our messages out into the waiting world.

Biography

HARDENED HERO is the brand new project fronted by 21 year old Ryan Dennis, former lead singer of Serial Joe. With 4 albums under his belt, including the certified gold-selling album “Face Down”, two top 10 national singles (“Mistake” and “Completely”), as well as two Much Music Video Awards for “Skid Row” and “Deep”, Ryan has established himself as a proven Canadian artist. Teaming up with 20 year old Tim Oxford, a drummer with over a decade of playing under his belt, years of training under Jeremy Taggart (drummer of Our Lady Peace) and shows opening for Our Lady Peace, Ryan formed Hardened Hero with the intention of breaking back out onto the Canadian scene.

Hardened Hero’s debut is light years ahead of the material Ryan released as front man of Serial Joe. After his stint in one of Canada’s youngest success stories, his eyes have been opened to the inner workings of the industry. He is not only equipped with business knowledge and know -how accrued over four albums and record company dealings, but has pushed himself as a performer and a songwriter.

Critically assessing the material he co-wrote for Serial Joe, he then wrote some 40 songs on his own; material that came from the heart; real experiences, hardships, observations, and heartbreak. “I just wrote and wrote and wrote until I felt I had an album of really good songs. They all have a certain feel that capture a state of mind at the time in my life. I experienced some harsh realities, relationship-wise and life-wise, confronting old demons. There are a lot of things in a person’s life that are hidden because they’re not comfortable with them” says Ryan.

The album starts rocking right from track one with “Break Away” an epic rock song about holding on to the one you love and not letting them give up on life and follows up with something fresh and different with “Ecstasy”, a driving rock offering that dives into a journey through the wilder, trippier side of life. It then jumps right it to a solid guitar rock tune “Broken On The Inside” and doesn’t let up until the end.

Hardened Hero has hired a team of seasoned pros to tour with including Ryan Stever (ex-guitarist for Serial Joe) on rhythm guitar, Ryan Lynch (ex-bassist for Scott Moffat’s solo project - The Boston Post) on bass and ultra-talented new-comer Khris Steele on lead guitar.

Lyrics

Ecstasy

Written By: Ryan Dennis

I found the snake...
Somewhere deep in the desert.
I can't retrace...
The things it said to me... but...
Falling asleep -
I start to feel my minds eye wake up...
I've had a taste, now I'm begging for more...
Yeah we'll try this together.

I've been thinkin' bout teaching you,
Everything about ecstasy.
Come along and I'll make you see,
We'll get up - we'll get on - we'll get out...

Just take a sip...
You know this can't last forever.
Just take a trip...
Down... Down inside, cause'...
Falling asleeps the perfect time to find a dream and....
You've had a taste, now you're begging for more.
Yeah we'll ride it together.

I've been thinkin' bout teaching you,
Everything about ecstasy.
Come along and I'll make you see,
We'll get up - we'll get on - we'll get out...

One upon a time, there was a man - in a strange land.
He told us to come inside, to see what the world's about.
I knew you were scared, and unprepared, but the door was open
And I just thought we'd go have a look about.

And we learned...
To fly...
And I looked deep into your eyes and said...

I've been thinkin' bout teaching you,
Everything about ecstasy.
Come along and I'll make you see,
We'll get up - we'll get on - we'll get out...

Broken On The Inside

Written By: Ryan Dennis

Your words…
Are like daggers…
Digging deeper down with everything you say.
And you don’t…
Even notice…
That I lose my mind a little more each day

I’m tired of breaking down
I’m tired of trying to make you see the light of day

Go
Away from me
Go
Just get away
You can’t be fixed because you’re broken on the inside

You cry…
When you’re with me
You drag me back when I just thought I got away
No more lies…
No more giving…
Of what could have been the best of me some day

I’m tired of breaking down…
I’m tired of trying to make you see the light of day…

Go
Away from me
Go
Just get away
You can’t be fixed because you’re broken on the inside

Get away…
Just get away…
I’m not listening…
So get away…
Just get away from me.

Go
Away from me
Go
Just get away
You can’t be fixed because you’re broken on the inside

Let Go

Let Go

Haunting memories from the past
Can’t stop us today
Follow me – we’ll take the last
Train away

We can put away our masks
We can misbehave
We can make the good times last
So come away

I know you trust me
Enough today
So hold me… lovely
We’ll fly away…

Break away with me
Don’t let go of life now
Break away with me
We’ll outrun all misery

We can watch the sun go down
As our old lives fade
We can watch the stars surround
All our dreams

And I know… you love me
So I remain….
listen… to me…
Don’t slip away

Break away with me
Don’t let go of life now
Break away with me
We’ll outrun our misery

Break away with me
Don’t let go of life now
Break away with me
We’ll outrun all misery

Break away
Break away
Break away with me
We’ll outrun

Please just take my hand
Cause I can take away your pain
Won’t leave without you
Don’t slip away…

I know…
You’re afraid
And you’re in pain…
But I’ve come… to save you
Don’t go away

Set List

Our set varies, depending on the requirements of the show. Furthermore, our set list changes depending on the crowd we're performing for. Typically, we play a 9-10 song set, which averages about 35-40 minutes in length. We like to keep it short and sweet, unless headlining.
