Bio

Based in the heart of a Prince Edward Island music scene teeming with talent, newcomers Harkstow Grange have already made their mark.

The four members of the band come from diverse backgrounds and musical traditions, but share a passion for the eclectic blend of music that they create together. With a repertoire that is almost entirely original material, they have a unique and engaging sound with one foot planted in folk/roots and the other in rock.

Andrew Waite is an exceptionally talented acoustic and electric guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Nikki Schieck showcases the band’s versatility by smoothly changing between keyboards and sax. Anchoring the group’s sound are Eric Coffin on electric and standup bass and George Maros on drums.

Harkstow Grange has been together for just over a year and are already drawing raves from their performances around the Maritimes, both as a feature act and backing quartet for acclaimed singer Irish Mythen. Among the other artists they have shared the stage with are Racoon Bandit and Newfoundland’s The Idlers. They have been featured artists on the mainstage of PEI’s The Dunk and at other well-known local venues and are developing an ever-increasing fan base.

The group’s credentials as an up-and-coming force have been strengthened by grants from Music PEI as Emerging Artists and their invitation from the Atlantic Presenters Association to showcase at Contact East 2011 in the Emerging Artist category. Both of these speak to the expectations that their peers and music business insiders have for the talented foursome.

Future plans for the group include a winter and spring of recording time and the Summer 2012 release of their debut album. In the meantime, they expect to expand an already ambitious touring schedule.

With a unique sound that appeals directly to younger and older audiences alike, Harkstow Grange figure to be around and making original music for a long time.
