"Jim Vallance"

Harlot is not easy to categorize. The music is intimate, distant, familiar, strange, dangerous, as delicate as a butterfly wing and as heavy as a hammer on an anvil...sometimes in the same song! The instumentation ranges from medieval to metal, the common thread being her beautiful voice, which adresses every conceivable human emotion from a whisper to a scream.

Songwriter
Bryan Adams,Ozzy Osbourne, Heart, Joan Jett.

"Socks and storms"

I've played with Annique and as an artist she's an intense storm mixed with a sexy vixen-like attitude who's not taking any prisoners!... Watch and listen for her- she'll knock your socks off (and any other footwear you happen to be sporting)

Drummer
Honeymoon Suite, Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson
- Randy Cooke

"Quote"

"Annique is an extremely unique singer/songwriter who has the drive and talent to make a huge impact on the music world. Her "Dark Fantasy" vision is exciting, with powerful lyrics and a voice that has great depth of emotion and stamina. She is also phenomenal to work with."

Elaine Overholt
Vocal Coach for "Chicago" the movie and Vocal Coach for major label recording artists.

About Harlot

Combining a melodic fusion of tones interlaced with threads of illusion and reality, Harlot’s unique sound erupts from the well-spring of fantasy. Annique and Andrew Bettencourt’s artistic genius first collided in the spring of 2005, creating a raw, cohesive, musical synergy. Spawning a creature driven by the rhythmic surge of melody and the intense, focused fury of rock, Harlot’s style has been described as “metalodic,” a pastiche of metal and melody all their own. Annique’s emotionally-driven lyrics tell tales of the sorrows of human nature. Not only a skilled lyricist, this five-foot-nothing vixen electrifies the stage with her commanding, hypnotic presence and violent, powerful vocals. Bettencourt’s tasteful leads and patterns unravel intricate, melodic layers while his aggressively raw, rhythmic style converges an array of textures and tones that hit you like a tidal wave of sheer volume. Together with their pounding drummer, thumping bassist, and haunting strings they create a symphony of beautiful destruction.

Harlot has achieved an international reputation, attaining strong accolades from songwriters such as Jim Vallance (Ozzy Osbourne, Bryan Adams). They are Lennon Award winners (2007) and have just been offered a U.S. EMI Publishing deal. Harlot has also won additional songwriting competitions such as (Grand Prize Winner) Best Rock Song in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the song “Maybe” (2007), Honourable Mention at the 13th Annual Billboard World Songwriting Competition for the songs “Leaving” and “Broken Angel” (2006), the Jagermeister Sponsorship Award (2006), and Finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition for the song “First to Know” (2004/Annique Solo).
