With guitar work that creates a tone and feel for the song immediately and vocals that merge with the guitar, the result is an edgy foundation with almost a physical presence that brings somewhat disconnected phrases into a cohesive, clear and consistent story.
Lehr plays with a heartfelt passion and firm commitment to the song and his style, rooted in folk-blues and a backwoods kind of country, is quite genuine.
The songs have drive and depth, they’re personal and real, even those that are simply variations and takes on the traditional material he loves.
All in all a very individualistic and focused style and sound.
Lehr has played at NERFA, The Listening Room, Cold Spring, NY; Folkjamfest, Larchmont, NY and The Circle of Friends Meeting House, Pleasantville, NY.
He has participated in workshops by Ellis Paul and Lucy Kaplansky and is a member of the Folk Alliance and Tribeshill.
