Bio
A true student of the harmonica, Adam Jenkins has strived to master every style of playing. He has grown musically as he has grown with the instrument. As AJ Harp, he pulls from the varied influences of past masters like Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and John Popper. "The harmonica inspired me to pick up a guitar and a pen and become a singer-songwriter. As AJ Harp, I try to incorporate the harp into my songwriting as both homage to the greats as well as a new direction for the instrument."
AJ Harp has spent the last 8 years navigating the Philly music scene, finding his voice, writing tons of tunes, and learning the art of music production. He performs occasionally in the local pub and spends a majority of time working in the studio. He is currently in the process of compiling these recordings into a new album. The project will be titled The Rhythm Boy, a dedication to his Grandfather's 1940's jazz group in which his "Papa" was the drummer. "While not to jazzy, the songs will hopefully catch the folk-blues groove that I have been in lately."
The songs will soon be available for download on MySpace and a full-length album is due out this Winter. With Sonicbids, AJ Harp looks forward to getting his music "out there" with singles on the radio, onto compilation CD's, and festival gigs.
Or as AJ likes to say, "Through the ears and into the minds of people everywhere."
