"Harriet Tweed"

When Harriet Tweed donned their instruments wearing snow gear (and a bunny suit), I
realized I was in for more than the run of the mill performance. From the first chord, Tweed engaged the crowd. Captivating is really the major word to describe a Harriet Tweed performance with Dan Finch, in full bunny suit, bouncing to the rhythms of Matt Miller's drums and energetically laying the bass work of an accomplished artist. Both of them finely complimenting Chris Lyso's and Lance Douglas J.'s intense guitar riffs on "Life"- simultaneously Primus and down stroke rock. Lyso intensely belts his vocals over Lance's pounding guitars reminiscent of the late nineties post grunge era. The interesting thing about their performance is the diversity of styles they offer. From the jam style of
"Love" or "Festival", to the Rage Against the Machine-esque "Anubis Field", to the tongue in cheek "Cobra Kai" or "Harriet Zombie", Tweed successfully demonstrates the fact that you can take your craft, band and performance seriously without taking yourselves too seriously.

Bio

The story of Harriet begins in late summer of 2008 when she was merely a twinkle in Mr. Tweed's eye. Chris Lyso (formerly of 3 Man and Lunar Funk Theory) set out to create an original cross-genre band that fulfilled his stylistic desires and to develop something that is both entertaining to hear and entertaining to see. Chris was introduced to bassist Dan Finch that summer and began catching him up on his ever multiplying catalog of songs. Shortly thereafter, along came Lance Douglas J. (formerly of Oscar Trip and Anubis Field). Lance's dirty vintage tone instantly allowed Chris to stretch even further outside the genre barriers. Only a few short weeks later, Lance introduced Matt Miller (formerly of Patient 957) to the mix. Harriet Tweed's first single, "Festival" was released in December 2008 followed by their first full length album, "100% Tweed", released in May 2009. The boys hit the ground running immediately drawing local and regional attention being featured on the argusleader.com "Link Live" web jam, 605 Magazine, and Razorcake Music Magazine. With their high energy live performances, catchy licks, and edgy lyrics, Harriet Tweed has quickly become a contender in the Mid-West scene.
