Bio

For Harrison Caldeira, the folkloric feel of his recently released album HISSTORY is deeply ingrained in the honesty, sincerity, and emotion with which he tries to tell his story. His music is not about presenting a faade of the polished studio artist, but it is about relating what is raw and real about his life and experiences. As he describes it, the context of the whole album is centered on re-creating yourself to become your authentic self; it is a story of seeing the lies that we tell ourselves so that we are comfortable with mediocrity. To him, this album was not only a chance to write and create music, but it was also an exploration of what we do when those lies are exposed and we see the absolute truth the truth that we are capable of so much more.

Building off of his LP Visionary, Caldeiras music reflects his anything but average musical career. Raised in a small community by his Guyanese parents who played and celebrated all genres of music from reggae and soca to Otis Redding and B.J. Thomas Caldeira has embraced and been a practitioner of music since his childhood. He had not, however, focused on writing or sharing his own music beyond experimentation and finding solace in the more personal realm of acoustic folk. It was not until after he had recovered from being partially paralyzed that he discovered his desire to write music. Due to the partial paralysis, Caldeira had to re-learn guitar and teach himself to write again a process that he believes helped him find and craft his musical voice. For Caldeira, this re-learning took on the form of a spiritual rebirth and gave him the ability to pour songs from his soul. Soon, he found himself fervently writing songs and experimenting with his capabilities as a guitarist.

With the proliferation of songs at his disposal, Caldeira soon had Visionary at his hands and began to tour it locally. His performances were met with encouraging and positive responses, culminating in EMG spotting him and Kevin Ker, the owner, asking to produce his next album. Ker described Caldeiras songs as weaving tales of love, longing, and loss, and because of this, along with Kers belief in him, Caldeira decided to work with him. After only a week in the studio, HISSTORY was completed and Caldeira eagerly awaits the next step in his journey, whether that is to begin touring his new album across Canada, or focus on attaining exposure to labels. It is an undecided future, but it is a future that holds everything and anything in store for Caldeira.
