"HARRY & THE HENDERSONS; GIVE ME PROOF"

"A REAL collectors item, this, Harry & the Henderson's Give Me Proof is the final release on the legendary student-run record label Electric Honey as part of Stow College. There will only be 500 7" vinyl copies made and I'd say it's a piece of Scottish music history.
Before we get emails, Electric Honey isn't over and will still release new music. But it will now be as part of the proposed merger with John Wheatley College and North Glasgow College. While Belle & Sebastian, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol all benefitted from Stow's Electric Honey, now it'll be a new chapter.
So to the seven-piece Harry & the Hendersons and their debut single and Stow's Electric Honey's last. It's a surprising full stop. There's no rage or retrospection, instead 'Give Me Proof' is a laidback stroll into a new dawn.
The song has the brassy swing of Paolo Nutini and the lead singer Harry Mulvenna has the cool velvety tone of Michael Buble as he soothes; "People always talk about the real world, but they can't explain where it is."
You can tell the sun is shining rather than the rain pouring. And that's a good thing.
The second tune, New York's Lost Island of Lepers is more joy, adding the tinkle of piano and yearn of fiddle as female singer Megan Airlie admits "I'm broken like you wouldn't believe"
I know how you feel, it's the end of an era, but thanks to Harry & the Henderson's and aural plaster will heal the wound. Here's to the next 20 years of Electric Honey. - Daily Record (Glasgow)
