Hawk Rising arrives on the scene with some seriously Funked Up Soul!
As the “Hawk” blows off Lake Michigan you feel its presence. As an artist, Hawk Rising is synonymous, fierce, strong and at times intimidating, a true presence, a force to be reckoned with.
With influences ranging from Prince to Marvin Gaye, George Clinton, Funkadelic, James Brown, Muddy Waters, BB King, Sam Cooke, Aerosmith, Daft Punk, to Rakim and Ice Cube, Hawk is truly a music aficionado! From early childhood, this native Chicago son was affected by the music he listened to. It quickly became was apparent then that there was indeed something special and unique about this young lad. In the interim, circumstances would take him on different paths. Exploring many aspects of the Entertainment Industry and honing his business craft, afforded Hawk to the ability to come full circle. After a grueling trek through the industry jungle, he found his way back to his musical roots.
Hawk now has over 1,400 shows in his professional resume as performer, producer, booking agent and road manager. the new decade has brought about many new opportunities and a new desire and drive to perform and Hawk has once again found his groove. He has drawn from his many experiences to enhance his sound, taking his music to new heights. The new single, “Aay! (Chi-Town Shinin’)”, is an infectious offering from Bay Area hit maker, ProHoeZak. This is a feel good anthem, giving off positive vibes worldwide.. The follow-up single, “Windy City (feat) Skatterman”, Co-Produced by Larry Elyea and C. Alexander takes us back to his Blues/Funk influences with a new era Funk energy. The forthcoming album, “Cover Me”, is an eclectic blend of original compositions and exciting and obscure covers with a Hawk Rising twist. The stage is where he excels and Hawk likes to reference a quote from George Clinton that he lives by, “Free your mind and your ass will follow;”
