Hawks & Wolves

In the fall of 2010, Ohio heavy rock band Amplexus travelled to Woodstock, NY to record material based largely on a short story premise in part inspired by the decidedly more adventurous and progressive songs they were to record with producers Michael Birnbaum & Chris Bittner (Coheed & Cambria, John Mayer, George Clinton, The Sleeping, Codeseven). After recording and taking in the changing season in scenic upstate New York, the band returned to Ohio reborn as Hawks & Wolves and in their hands a debut ep.
Molding an array of musical influences, from indie rock, post-hardcore, metal and the theatrical musical, to literary influences from poet Allen Ginsberg, and the works of authors Philip K. Dick (A Scanner Darkly, Blade Runner), Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) and Hunter S. Thompson ( The Rum Diaries, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), the result is a dark concept album entitled Delta Waves: The Alread Ep. The Ep is the story of a fallen soldier, Philip David Alread who has been discarded by the state and is suffering from the physical and post traumatic affects of war. Alread attempts to trap himself in his dreams, to get back the chances and the people lost to him in life through a world of his making. Reinforced visually by scene and character art to give depth to the story and its players, the music is an aspect of a cohesive moving experience that operates through many artistic mediums.*The six- piece is positioned to continue to take strides with its unique and dramatic story driven sound, which translates to an impressively diverse live show, one which has allowed them to share the stage with such varied acts as Every time I die and Rise Against to the Dear Hunter and Protest the Hero. Delta Waves: The Alread Ep will be released in early winter of 2011.
