Bio

At 24 years old Hayley Griffiths has already been in the limelight for over a decade. Achieving global recognition and critical acclaim for her classically trained vocal abilities, her “stunningly pure soprano voice” (Chicago Medhill review) has earned her roles as the lead singer in both ‘Riverdance‘ and Michael Flatley’s ‘Lord of the Dance’ world tours. Along with acting accomplishments in performances for both the RSC and the BBC, Hayley is now pursuing her career as a recording artist for the Classical Crossover market. SILVER SCREEN Hayley’s much anticipated debut album in collaboration with Surefire Music Group was released on May 11th 2010.

Born and raised in Surrey, England, Hayley’s flair for singing and acting were realized at an early age. Endless singing around the house and along with the radio revealed a natural ability, so Hayley began singing lessons at the age of 6. Alongside her schooling, she also attended the acclaimed Laine Theatre Arts School for 10 years, which helped to fine-tune her performance skills in Musical Theatre, Acting and Dance. Intensive vocal training with Mezzo-Soprano Louise Crane earned her Grade 8 ABRSM and the prestigious ABRSM Performance Diploma in Singing. This refined her ability to not only sing in her native language, but also in French, German and Italian.

Hayley also gained invaluable experience from her years as a school chorister, performing solos at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and both the Basilica San Francesco and Chiesa Sta Maria Dei Ricci in Prague. In addition, she has sung the Soprano Solo roles in performances of Carmina Burana and Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C Major.

Acting alongside Geraldine Somerville and Sian Philips in the BBC period drama ‘The Aristocrats’, Hayley won the role of Lady Emily Lennox at just 13-years-old. During her early teens, she also appeared in the West-End playing Belinda Cratchet in the original cast of ‘Scrooge the Musical’ at London’s Dominium theatre, and reprising the role for the RSC version at the Barbican. At that point, no stranger to the stage, Hayley’s flair for performance led her to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where she appeared in Making Echoes, an original play by Philip Tong, which was awarded a 4 star review by the Scotsman Newspaper. During her teenage years, Hayley also appeared in advertisements for Gold Star Television, corporate videos for Cisco systems, had her voice featured in live recordings for both BBC Radio 2 and the Children in Need CD, ‘Pudsey, The Musical’ and was awarded the juvenile lead of Fanny in Dan Crawford’s ’Cavalcade’ at Sadler’s Wells.

In 2004, Hayley was flown to Dublin to sing for the Executive Producer of the Irish phenomenon, ‘Riverdance’. Just two days later she began a tour that over the next few years would take her extensively across Europe, North America, Russia, Japan, South Korea and China singing to a crowd of thousands every night. Highlights included the honour of singing for Her Imperial Majesty Emperor of Japan whilst in Tokyo and performing at the Kremlin Palace, in Moscow.

Hand picked by Michael Flatley himself, Hayley won the role of Erin the Goddess in ‘Lord of the Dance’ in late 2005, a tour that would take her to nearly every state in North America as well as extensive sold out tours of Canada, Mexico, and Europe. A one off performance of Michael Flatley’s ‘Feet of Flames’ in January 2008 would mark a high point in Hayley’s career, thus far, with her voice being heard by 20,000 people at the Taipei Arena, in Taiwan.

It was during a return to the North American tour of Riverdance in 2007 that Hayley was introduced to Surefire Music Group. Invited to return to Boston to write and record original material, Hayley flew to the US in September 2008 to begin collaboration on her debut album, and her first single ‘Separated by Glass’ was born. Flying back and forth to the states over a year and a half, in between her global tours Hayley fine-tuned the cinematic soundscapes that would become SILVER SCREEN. In November 2009 Hayley was asked to headline the New York City Horror Film Festival after the director heard her spine-chilling track ‘Haunted,’ performing to a packed crowd at Manhattans BLVD club. SILVER SCREEN was officially launched on the 11th May at a top London music venue, Zigfrid Von Underbelly to an invited industry audience.

Hayley’s unique New Age sound infuses the purity and beauty of her classical background with the catchy melodies and striking arrangements of pop and R&B music. Working with producers who have written/produced for Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Ne-Yo, Brooke Hogan, Makio, Ryan Toby and many others, Hayley is poised to take the Classical Crossover market by storm. Expect high drama, powerful lyrics and a captivating sound from Hayley’s debut album, SILVER SCREEN out now!
