“I was a born to be a song writer/entertainer, I make music for people to bounce to,” says rapper/songwriter H.D. (born Hiram D. Gore). In his songs, he tells the stories of everyday people on the streets in a way that everyone can understand, have fun with, and bounce to.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, H.D. has one baby brother and a couple of sisters. His mom works at a phone company and Dad is doing his thing. H.D. grew up in church and he feels that his church experience has definitely influenced his musical message. “My grandparents brought me up in church,” he says. “I believe in Jesus Christ and I try to live an honest life and do the right thing but I still I make mistakes like the next man.”
“I’ve been writing for a while now,” says the 20 year old who first started rapping at age 12 and then became more artistic in his teenage years. He was smart and enrolled at DeVry University for Computer Engineering in 2003 (his junior year in high school). However, his ambition to one day become a full-fledged rap artist led him to put school on hold for a while, after only attending DeVry for one and a half years. “College was cool but it wasn’t what I had always dreamed of doing, so I started going back & forth from Columbus, Ohio to Orlando, Florida to try to make my dream come true.”
