Bio
HD Fusion began in 1986 when Mike Dullum, a talented, 16 year old, classically trained pianist and Tony Handy, a 30 year old professional jazz, funk and R&B drummer/bassist and 6th generation nephew of the famous, W.C. Handy, father of the St. Louis Blues, were introduced by a mutual friend.
Tony and Mike began playing together with a goal to write and play powerful, positive music and to create a new sound to what was then labeled "fusion". The original sound that resulted was dubbed HandyDullum Fusion (which has since been shortened to HD Fusion).
By 1992 the duo had scores of material and was ready to take their music to the next level. That summer, the contemporary jazz and rock guitarist, Tim Bertsch and jazz saxophonist, Sean Heisley, joined the HD team. The two young, talented musicians contributed a contemporary, emotional edge to the already dynamic heartfelt style of HD Fusion.
In 1997 the group met bassist, Keith Pasculli, a native New Yorker, whose versatile style and technique firmly rooted the HD melodies and rhythms.
In 1999 HD Fusion won six KCM Awards from Best Jazz Group, Best Song Writer, Best Instrumental CD and three individual artist awards.
Now, in 2010, with their newest release, Blue Skies (available for purchase through iTunes or CDbaby) can be heard around the Pacific Northwest.
