HeadBelt began as a little side project, simply a way to pass time and try some different things...but it felt good, like Halle Berry makes Billy Bob feel good, so we kept writing and arranging. The songs came rather quickly until we had almost an albums' worth, so we said, what the hell, let's just make this a new band. So, we put our main project to the side and whispered "don't worry baby...we'll be back."
Headbelt is best described as just plain heavy. Just a straight-up evil groove at times and at others it's a twisted arrangement of brutal riffs. If you're into Mudvayne, System of a Down, Deftones, Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Sevendust, Tool, Crowbar, and the like, you'll probably be into this as well. Mind you, it doesn't really sound like any of these bands...so if that's what you want, well, go listen to THEM. Everyone in the group has a different laundry list of influences they bring to the table, and then we create a new soup from those ingredients. It's kind of like America...a melting pot...yeah, HeadBelt is just like America. If we can all learn to tolerate each other long enough we'll achieve something special...and then go destroy everything in sight.
We like it, we have fun with it and hopefully you will too.
