Headcage

Headcage is the tasty musical infusion you get when Australian singer-songwriter Glyn Major (www.glynmajor.com) and South American multi-instrumentalist Christian Schmidt (aka Voodoo Schmidt) combine forces.

The duo met during their music studies in Brisbane in 2015 and quickly started jamming together. Both musicians shared a common love for traditional styles of classic, psychedelic and hard rock music ranging from the 60s to 90s. Major quotes  “Both of us thoroughly enjoyed each other's style and personal music projects, so a collaboration was inevitable.”

In relation to the group’s title, Christian explains, “The name Headcage was inspired after discussing an ex-drummer’s medical procedures and the realisation of how the power of music can liberate the mind and soul from physical and mental limitations.”

With the help of some friends they created their harmonious first full band album. This concept album represents sounds and stories from nightfall to sunrise mixing classic rock songs with Latin rhythms and psychedelic musical landscapes. This album also utilises multiple stereo and high definition binaural recordings to fully liberate the senses.

This year’s live shows commenced with their new 2018 line-up featuring drummer, Dan Hitzke (www.dhdrums.com) and bassist Pat Tiley (www.pattiley.rocks).

The band is popularly known for their hard-hitting powerful rock vocals, virtuoso guitar performances and hypnotizing "space" sounds, as well as their unique high energy live shows guaranteed to invigorate the soul.
