The best kept secret in music

Owing more to psychedelia than anything by Small Faces, Headquarters' smattering of singles casts a wide net over a variety of pop tricks, reeling in most of them to create sunny, energizing nuggets. -Philadelphia weekly - PHILADELPHIA WEEKLY

With a sound that echoes the Who's early spunk, the understated energy of the Stone Roses and the smoothness of James Bond music, they embody every reason the culture is so enduring. -Pittsburgh Pulp - PITTSBURGH PULP

If it's neat 60's harmonies and crashing Guitars that you after and lots of you must be because we like that vibe here on sohostrut, you'll'' not go wrong with New Yorks Headquarters, known to Tony for a fair while now, and small featured here on the site for some time. With the arrival of the bands latest single 'Day In Bed' rocking about on Tony's PC we thought time for a remake on this retro combo, Mooney Suzuki run high as Tony's fave New York band, but HQ are stealing in a close second..

"headquarters deliver smash crash and flash"

NYC stylists Headquarters deliver a double helping of straight-up Modernist power-pop with enough sneer and attitude to verify the fact that they are living in the modern world. Yes indeed, plenty of solid smash, crash and flash. Nice. -"Good Thing" single revew by Mohair Sweets - mohair sweets

"HeadQuarters recall classic radiohead and creation in ambition and tunefullness"

HEADQUARTERS has done it again. Silky non-subtleties recall classic Creation and Radiohead in ambition and tunefulness - amazon.com review

"the band with the buzz"

The band with the buzz, native New York mod rockers Headquarters are dedicated to updating the sound of the Jam-crossed with early Who, and they do it well. Lead by Charles Wallace, the band has a 20 minute short film broadcasting currently on the Sundance channel entitled American Mod. I always thought my teen years was an American version of Quadrophenia. Any band who invokes the La's have gotta be fun. -The Village Voice

Feeling a bit camera shy

HeadQuarters is among a rare breed of New York City rock bands. They have garnered the respect of
critics and fans alike, all the while maintaining their indie credibility.
Over the past few years HeadQuarters have
made a name for themselves with their powerful tunes which evoke both neo-psychedelia and classic pop sensibilities, but with a decidedly modern twist. A unique blend of melodic rock ’n roll with a conceptual pop art perspective. A visual sound in super 8 millimeter that works on both a cerebral and a visceral level.
This summer sees the release of the band’ s debut EP, Get Your Head On. The five tracks recorded
this past Spring in New York City. While previously working solely with producer Gordon Raphael (The
Strokes), the latest recordings find the band in the bowels of the beast themselves to create the new HQ sound. Raphael remains in the vision as uber-consultant, while the new songs reflect the seminal mix of sonic creativity and pop-crafted hooks the band have been striving for since their inception.
A well-established live act, HeadQuarters has toured successfully throughout North America (including Canada), playing with international touring acts The Soundtrack Of Ours Lives and more. Having the musical background to back up their stylized image, underscored with a keen sense of timing and an unparalleled ability to turn the classic into the contemporary, HeadQuarters has kept on the forefront of the independent rock scene in New York City.
With continued success at live shows and considerable label interest, their key role is their new recordings set to be their biggest and best to date, HeadQuarters is poised to show the rest of the world what NYC already knows; they are the band with the style, the sound, the soul, and most importantly, the talent to transform their
musical vision into a lasting reality.
