The band with the buzz, native New York mod rockers Headquarters are dedicated to updating the sound of the Jam-crossed with early Who, and they do it well. Lead by Charles Wallace, the band has a 20 minute short film broadcasting currently on the Sundance channel entitled American Mod. HeadQuarters is among a rare breed of New York City rock bands. They have garnered the respect of
critics and fans alike, all the while maintaining their indie credibility.
Over the past few years HeadQuarters have
made a name for themselves with their powerful tunes which evoke both neo-psychedelia and classic pop sensibilities, but with a decidedly modern twist. A unique blend of melodic rock ’n roll with a conceptual pop art perspective. A visual sound in super 8 millimeter that works on both a cerebral and a visceral level.
This summer sees the release of the band’ s debut EP, Get Your Head On. The five tracks recorded
this past Spring in New York City. While previously working solely with producer Gordon Raphael (The
Strokes), the latest recordings find the band in the bowels of the beast themselves to create the new HQ sound. Raphael remains in the vision as uber-consultant, while the new songs reflect the seminal mix of sonic creativity and pop-crafted hooks the band have been striving for since their inception.
A well-established live act, HeadQuarters has toured successfully throughout North America (including Canada), playing with international touring acts The Soundtrack Of Ours Lives and more. Having the musical background to back up their stylized image, underscored with a keen sense of timing and an unparalleled ability to turn the classic into the contemporary, HeadQuarters has kept on the forefront of the independent rock scene in New York City.
