"Local Artist Sells T-Shirts: ‘Shoot Your Local Heroin Dealer’"

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis hip-hop artist Brian “B Skan aka Headshot Louie” Stringer says his lyrics are honest and will probably shock listeners. He raps about the shooting death of his brother, his dislike of the police, and he is featured on a song titled “Smokin Hella Weed” (Warning: Music contains explicit language). But the message Stringer is most passionate about can be seen on T-shirts he sells that say “SHOOT YOUR LOCAL HEROIN DEALER.”

Stringer grew up in South City in St. Louis and says he’s tired of seeing people die because of a killer drug that attracts all classes of people.

“One of my cousins is addicted to heroin,” Stringer says. “Mother, father, you know, he’s had the perfect upbringing and he lives in a great neighborhood and always had money, and somehow it’s reached him. … It’s everywhere at this point.”

That isn’t his only personal run-in with heroin addicts. Stringer told a story about a funeral he attended for a young woman who overdosed on heroin. He said that during the service, the woman’s younger sibling was in the parking lot breaking into cars and stealing purses and money.

Stringer says he feels sorry for the addicts.

The T-shirts are sold through his independent recording label, Black Flag Music, and Stringer says the shirts are selling to people all over the country.

In public, he is getting a mixed review.

“I’ve had police officers drive by and salute me,” Stringer says. “I’ve gotten some dirty looks, too, from, I guess, heroin dealers, I don’t know. Those seem like the only people that dislike the shirts, for real.”

Stringer says he’s not really condoning homicide, but wants to bring awareness to the heroin epidemic, and feels like a shocking message is necessary to get people to pay attention.
